hi all

i have just recieved the chain and sprocket set i ordered on ebay.

looking at the rear sprocket size it is the one used on a yzf1000r aka the thunderace.

46 teeth instead of the cats standard 47

will i have any problems with my mechanic fitting this?.

It's effectively downgearing your bike a bit, but not by much.

That's what you get for not buying mine! Twisted Evil

Anyway... Rolling Eyes Wink

As long as the mounting bolts are in the same place, and I can't see why they wouldn't be, you'll just end up with a slightly faster pull and a bit off the top end. Thumbs Up

cheers

i have emailed the bloke asking him if it will be compatible.

it has been bought from a trade only supplier and then shipped to me via them looking at the invoice and packing.

i bit more low down pull will be better as me hitting 150 again is unlikely Thumbs Up

wrong. a smaller rear sprocket will decrease acceleration and increase top speed.

Hi

Do the Thundercat and Thunderace use the same size chain? Is the rear sprocket offset the same on both?

Chances are it will be fine but double check first.

All the best

Keith

thundercat chain is 108

thunderace chain is 110

thats from looking at the trade only site that put the wrong rear sprocket in the kit though that was posted to me

thundercat has a 15 teeth front sprocket

thunderace has a 17 teeth front sprocket

as standard

Hi

That is the chain length. I meant the size (ie, 520, 530, etc);

All the best

Keith

Hi

One less thing to worry about.

Is is a complete Thunderace kit they have sent you? Is the front sprocket correct?

Sprockets are often offset to one side.

All the best

Keith

hi keith

they have sent me a chain and sprocket set for a yzf600r thundercat as stated on the box

on the invoice it states that the rear sprocket is for a yzf1000r and on the packing for the rear sprocket it states that it has 36 teeth.

i have emailed the seller of the kit about this fact and have not yet had a reply which is to be expected as it's late in the evening now

Oh the joys of E bay!! Rolling Eyes What will happen is you'll lose acceleration, but maybe get a better fuel consumption at cruise. Use a decent supplier next time matey. Rolling Eyes
