Trouble is if a police officer stops you for having a light out or for speeding and notices it, it's going to be a very serious charge, perversion of justice or similar.

Someone made one out of a drill, instead of it flipping, it just rotates. Pretty clever.

I cant see you getting in trouble for it unless you are caught using it, Just say its only used for bike meets and bike shows... But if you do get caught using it on a speed camera or somthing you will get in a lot of shit im guessing.

i tried making one my self but its very hard to make the servo work on its own if you wire it up to a battery it wont work

If I was to make one, I would try and use a bit of fishing line or somthing. and put a drill or somthing under my seat. Then just fit the no plate on hindges ( with a spring on it so it dont keep moving when not in use ), and attach the fishing line to the bottom of the plate. Re-wire the drill button so you can have it on the handlebars, only thing I couldnt work out is how you would make it come up again, unless you can chage them flick switchs to just a button.

And if you press the button to long your either gona break your 40pound fishing line or pull the back of your bike off Very Happy

You are so wrong and your paragraph is contradictory. Work out why.

In fact your paragraph even supplies a more than adequate defence that would be accepted by a court if you were charged with attempting to pervert the cause of justice in this case.

Ok you have a device that is supposed to be used to stop the Police getting your registration so you can do a runner in the event of a traffic stop or offence. If you don't use it and stop when you see blue lights you have shown that you have no intent to avoid a stop and therefore no crime is commited.

So you get blue lighted by the Police and you stop, they say having a flip up plate is attempting to pervert to which you reply 'no it isn't I stopped'. No mens rea (the mind to commit the offence) as you didn't think to do a runner and no actus rea (commiting the offence) as you stopped.

So your whole defence to the charge is I cannot be guilty as the flip up plate was never used (and has never been used on a public highway) and I stopped as soon as was safe to do so.

Pretty sure thats all correct but hopefully Strag will correct any mistakes.

Intent when fitting would still need to be backed up by doing in this case. Along with the fact that you stopped it would be nigh on impossible to prove.

Officer: Why did you fit it?

Rider: I don't like putting cups of tea on the bodywork when I'm stopped in the car park at the ace.

Just got rid of the intent bit.

As to the theft point you put forward have you noticed shops now put their anti-theft notices at the exit?

you could get it to run off of another battery, could quite easily use a model aircraft servo to do the job i think, not going to try it, its easier to just not get caught speeding Smile

V4 on this forum has one fitted to his bike. Its pretty trick i must say, although i dont see the point.
For it to work you have to see the speedcamera and flip the plate down.... or you could just slow down as you have seen the camera anway! If you havent seen the camera you wouldnt flip the plate so it would catch you.

that'll be me Thumbs Up

it was very easy do do, basically it's a Twist style cordless drill from BnQ

take the 2 parts of the drill apart, place the battery half somewhere suitable so it can be removed to charge the battery etc. and extend the wires so that it meets with the motor half

place the other half where suitable at the rear, mine was pointing towards the floor.

look for the left/right switch on the drill, remove it, and extend the wires so that you can mount the switch on your bars etc.

get an allen key that will fit in the socket part of the drill and amount your number plate to the L shaped allen key, then araldite it into place.

it's hard to explain it lol, in order to stop the plate from just spinning round and round I made a "stop" which involved a piece of metal a couple of inch's from where the drill poked through the undertray.

if i could find the pics etc. it would be easier to explain Thumbs Up
