 Posted: 21:35 - 06 Nov 2006 Post subject: DAS on a 400? |
 |
|
I have just passed my CBT and planned to move onto the DAS but the bike they use is too tall for me (I'm only 5'2") so thought I could use my own 400 bandit cos I know I can reach the floor comfortably, but the instructor says I cant use it cos its only a 400 but I thought that so long as its over 46.6bhp(which I think it is) then it would be ok. He then suggested that I could do the test on the 125 and get my bike restricted for 2 yrs, which I dont really want to do if I can avoid it. So what I'm wondering is he right and I cant take the DAS on a 400.
Hope this all makes sense |

Yeah he's right, for DAS the bike has to be at least 500cc AND 46.6bhp. There are training schools out there who have lowered bikes for shorter riders (they usually take all the padding out of the seat) so I'd say get on yell.com and start ringing around! ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |

I'm sure* the school where I had my lessons used CB-1s as their DAS bikes... They're no longer in existance sadly.

The bandit uses a detuned GSXR400 motor so puts out around 50-55hp. ____________________ My Flickr |

I am only 5'4" and managed to do DAS on the standard er500. It was quite low, although I couldnt get both feet completely flat on the floor, have a look at this though, I have sent this to another small rider on here. May be of some use https://www.nebcom.com/noemi/moto/sbl.faq.html |

Thanks for the replies, have made a few calls and Bryans in stoke have a ER5 with a cut down seat so I'm going to give that a go. At least that way if/when I drop it while I'm learning I went have to shell out for repairs to my own bike .
Has anyone else done there test with Bryans |
