Hiya folks,

Firstly, great site! I'm looking to get an NSR to learn on and then do my test having recently done my CBT which I really enjoyed. Ive chosen to go for the NSR because I reckon its probably a better investment, and if im going to be riding around on it for a few years I want it to stay together, plus it looks the nuts.

I have recently quit driving cars as I have failed my test 3 times now, twice becos I was crap and once because of a disagreement with the way I change gear. Does this mean I'm going to be crap at riding bikes, and unable to pass my test, im 18 and my CBT instructor said I'd need about 4 days, and if I had an NSR and ride it for a few weeks, that would drop to 2.

Due to my lack of success with cars if I failed the bike test it would kill me! Any advice? My plan is to ride the NSR for a while, then hopefully pass the test and derestrict it, tune it etc, but would like to know if there are any resources anyone knows of with regards to learning basic bike mecnanics, as I know relatively little.

Many thanks, apologies for the length of this!

I learned on a NSR!
They're terrible!! but u'll learn some good clutch control due to a lack of low down torque. If u're buying a second hand one, try to avoid square rear tyres Smile they're lethal in the wet, and could mean that someone else has learned on one too.. mcn.com give some good advice on buying. Some people reckon the 00 version yellow and silver NSR is nice, it aint bad I like the black one. Sry NSR ppl but the new all black RS is NICE! (I have a NSR)
