The lad in this link posted a video of himself driving like a twat on a road in Cheltenham.

He got nicked for dangerous driving, car and computer seized.

If hee gets convicted he will get a 12 month ban and have to take an extended retest and could go to prison.

Serves the little tit right.

Totally boring fact, but I used to live there when I was a kid, I was always at 'Sixways' buying Airfix kits at the chemists.

So for instance, if I posted a tank cam.

If I rode dangerously, wheelies, dangerous filtering, dangerous overtakes etc, would I be tracked down for prosecution?

How would they prove it's actually me, I could be lying just to show off, so how would that stand up in court?

Sorry for the questions, I'm quite intrigued.

Would that be a legitimate defence? Thinking

They took away his PC. Presumably he edited his video clip on his PC and most likely had it on there for future posting. or because he simply didn't delete it. They could possibly get his I.P. address from webamsters and then go through his ISP to pinpoint the customer too but not in every case especially with overseas hosting.

If someone were to do something that daft then the best they could do is have someone else post up the vid for them. Still no guarantees though. Your PC leaves a more detailed trace of your activities than you realise.

Whenever I make videos I ensure that no-one is identifiable (i.e. helmets only, and no number plates). Then it's simply a matter of being sensible and not keeping the original footage lying about!

I may have to start doing that then...

What video editing package do you use that can edit out numberplates?

I've always used Windows Movie Maker but it's not clever enough to blur plates!

The Police pulled a guy on the A41 a few years ago with a video camera strapped to his tank. Looked at the "footage" and he was filming the road and the speedo at the same time. He got banned....for a long time. Wink

Primarily I try to avoid shots with plates in, but obviously that's quite difficult when riding in a group!
I use Adobe Premiere to blur out the plates, it's more complex than WMM (and more annoying too, WMM is much easier to get to grips with) but is useful for things like this. The license for it is pretty expensive, so you may have to find some 'means' of obtaining the 'money' required to 'register' the software. There are plenty of guides available on the net for this sort of thing once you have the software, so figuring it out shouldn't be too difficult.

Dont say "This is me riding stupid" and then it's up to them to prove it's actually you and not someone else.
