Although 48 in a 40 is not exactly a major offence, I think it's about time the police were seen to be living under the same laws as everyone else. This is another example of very bad pubic relations, and just fuels unnecessary dislike and distrust in the system.

48 in 40 is NOT a terrible offence no, but we must remind ourselves that this was a speed camera that he was flashed by.

If he were pulled over by an officer, and let off the hook there and then, I'd be fine with that.

The fact is that he was flashed by a scamera, and got off the hook whilst any other citizen would have certainly got the fine and told to suck it.

Not to mention he was clearly lying about attending the accident since he never turned up, didn't radio in, didn't take the motorway etc. He's a liar who used his position to break the speed limit, and he knew it.

that is just diabolical, each of these 'incidents' displays the injustice in the system and tendancy for police to do as they please.

Its in there 3 times, only saw the first "reference" and the last "reference" thought it was a cryptic clue with the typical press hidden meaning. Rolling Eyes

Read his excuse, and the courts believed him. If he had just done 48 in a 40 and took the punishment like they camera partnerships want us all to do it would not have made the papers PC Pinocchio should be his name

Seriously... Is this worth worrying about?

Yes it's wrong. But so are a lot of things we get away with every day.

He was doing 48 in a 40. And I was doing 130 in a 60 today. So?

If anyone on this forum got away with it in similar circumstances they'd be bragging.
So what the difference. He's a cop. He got off a very minor offence. Lets let it drop, or we're in danger of ridiculing ourselves...

(Plus I tend not to let anything that the rag that is the Daily Mail has to say, enter my head...(Remember the "The Southpark movie is a vile offensive and dangerous film (or words to that effect)"
