yeah i agree you should go for a newer 6 mate though you do need other tuff like helmet, leathers, gloves, security for the thing.
but for a 1st bike a 400 is the ideal bike to start on. ____________________ Dean Stone #777

RVF if you must
But generally 600cc Inline 4 sports bikes are a better buy. ____________________ Regards

I own an rvf so im biased but on 95% of roads you cant use the speed the bigger bikes have and the handling is simply sublime.
Plus your jumping up from a scooter so 150mph plus top speeds arent what i hope your after
Go for an rvf or a mint vfr400 for around 2.5-3 grand easily available on bike trader.

Right then... Lessons £20 an hour, say 3hrs lessons - £60
Test say pass second time - £100
Leathers/ boots/ gloves/ helmet - £600+
2 years insurance for a 400 ~£1000-1800 depending on you, your area, your experience/ points/ claims
Petrol money for how long? I put about £10 on average a week into my bike, but over the warmer months im putting more in. Easily £400 a year I reckon total.
So thats maybe £3000 for two years. So you now have £3500 to buy yourself a 400 with, and can pick up mint ones from £1500 or some even lower. |

If you have the money, then an RVF would be a nice bike to get started on, espeically if you're relatively small (although not a neccessity).
I assume that you're under 21? If so, then I don't see the problem with getting a sports 600, assuming that you live with the 33bhp restriction for a little while. After a year of having the bike, having your licence, and not claiming, your premium should drop quite significantly.
Having said that, choosing a bike will be so much easier once you've actually passed your test. ____________________ TiN
