Depends which type of rivvet you want it for.

The 'Whale' one is very goof for solid rivets and does a good job of splitting chains as well.

Even the cheap motrax ones I've used for hollow rivets have been ok.

I use an angle grinder to get a chain off...

To rivet it get two large mole/monkey grips, and find a bolt that has a diameter slightly larger than the rivetts, put it on the correct side of the chain, then put something solid between the wheel/frame/sprocket and the inside of the chain and get bashing with the biggest hammer you have... frustrating and hard... but cheap...
