What the hell is with the news saying when the Kawasaki collided with the VW Golf.

In MOST cases, it's the knobbish car drivers mistake that he got knocked off, but they always make the bikers out to be the criminals...
Sickening...

Maybe in this case the biker was at fault.

Unless you know the full facts there is no point having a go.

Which is a great tragedy (unless he was a wanker), but that still does not mean that it is automatically the cagers fault. Hell, it could be that the reason they collided is that the bike was at 12 o'clock on the back wheel while doing 150mph and couldn't see the car.

I'm not saying that it /was/ the bikers fault, but I am saying that as none of us know the full facts from that article for all we know it was. Karma

I was expecting this reply sooner or later.
I agree you are right, he could of been, it just seems to me in almost every article about bike accidents, they always make it out to be the bikers fault.
Just my two cents.

Just found out that although this man was from Wiltshire, he was actually living in a house just on the other side of my back garden, saw his bike parked outside his house everyday.

The wake is at the pub where I bartended (till I had my crash), his parents and brother both live on my estate as well, it all seems alot closer to home now.

Thats one guy I'll never get to ride with. Karma

Does hearing about these accidents ever give anyone second thoughts about riding a bike?

Like everyone, you never think it could happen to you but when you hear about so many fatalities. (especially posts on here, with messages from their family) it makes you think.

Just put a deposit down on my first bike (gs500f) should be excited but it sorta depresses you a bit when you hear about all the spills.

Yeah i do have thoughts about riding, there's been 4 fatalities in 2 months around me.

But if everyone thought this, there would not be any bikers around.

At the end of the day, you just get on with it, you cant start living your life in dread, if it happens, it happens, just bad luck or bad judgement.

But i know wat you mean, i do every day i get on mine, but shrug my shoulders and move on.

Aye, especially after reading the terribly sad posts about Alex-T over the last few days, it's made me feel quite tearful at times. If I spend long enough thinking about it, I get an anxiety and a heavyheartedness and a temptation to take the car to work tomorrow, and perhaps the day after too.

I've had the odd scare but they were more a reflection on me as a new rider, than testament to the dangers of motorcycling. That said, I'm obviously slightly more at risk with my relative inexperience, and I spend a lot of time worrying about what my first accident will mean for me and my future. If I was totally risk-averse however, I wouldn't be doing it, and I'm trying to concentrate less on my 'first accident', and more on trying to avoid it.

One thing's for sure though, I do have to find the courage to tell The Folks that I've got a bike... they're 120 miles away and have no idea. The posts from Alex-T's dad has brought home to me the importance of one's family and significant others. I know they'll worry and prolly make my life difficult for a while, but nowhere near as difficult as their life will be if I have a serious one and they're the last to know.

A terrible waste... RIP Karma

Nope. People die in car accidents, push bike accidents and even bizarre spoon related accidents. I still eat my Frosties with a spoon. Life is terminal.

the one thing i never do is is dread over what might happen, the more you think bad, the more it will happen due to mood while driving, although you do become very wary, and develop a kind-of sixth-sense, such as knowing to move to a certain side of road when seeing a certain cars behaviour, only to watch that car swerve or something later on, and think you could of been at the sh1tty end of that stick...(you know what i mean) ride with best intentions at heart, shouldn't go far wrong there. Thumbs Up

Sorry to hear of another loss, I feel deeply saddend by it. Especially having lost my partner recently ( Alex ) My thoughts are definitly with the family.

I can relate to some of these messages in varying ways. I was saving for a bike and wanted to be able to ride so badly. Im learning to drive my car but its boring as hell. But the horific loss of Alex to me, seeing the devistation its caused to me, my family, his family. . . I feel I can never ride a bike.

I think its good that you ride and enjoy your life, but I just dont think I ever can now.
