You are probably thinking about our little trip with Feef, Niff, Mike and Ashmatt. Feef was using a Garmin GPS unit which keeps track of your route (untill the memory is full). This track can then be downloaded in to the software you get with it (Mapquest I think) and converted in to a Google Earth route.
I've no idea which Garmin GPS unit Feef was using, but I'm sure he will be along at some point and let you know ____________________ I spend all my money on bikes and beer, the rest I simply waste! |

yup..
I was using a Quest2, although I believe it's a standard feature for most Garmin units.
When you connect it to your PC, Mapsource allows you to download tracks, waypoints and routes from your GPS to the PC. Once in mapsource, you select the track you want, and then the View menu has a "view in Google Earth" option, which automatically opens google earth with the route in place.
Once in Google Earth, you can select the specific track(s) and 'save as' a .kmz file so anyone else can load it into Google Earth themselves.
