After reading this post, I'm now considering doing something similar myself. I've always fancied touring on a bike, but I've never been further than Scotland or the Isle of Man...
Never been abroad on a bike before, neither has my mate, but we both fancy a trip across Europe.
Brief plan (and it is VERY brief) at the moment is to get the ferry from Newcastle straight to Amsterdam then make our way to Spain (maybe) and up through France (maybe), then get the Chunnel home.
We were thinking of doing it around April / May and taking about 10 days at a relaxed pace. We plan to camp as we enjoy the freedom that comes with it.
Any opinions or pointers to look out for greatly appreciated as I've never done this kind of thing before. |

Make sure you have lots of spare cash (credit cards that are acceptd) in case of any eventualities, have bike break down cover for abroad and you should be covered for most things
The lack of cash was my biggest regret of going to france, needed way more
Good luck, i am sure if you read through the thread in here you will find much help, best of luck with it |
