Well, bought this goose from Roozer about a month ago.
It had the top end off - camshaft wear, coupled with shagged piston rings and rockers etc. The top of the tank also needed a re-spray, and that seat unit was 'orrible! Still, it had 10 months M.o.t, so I thought I'd risk it.

Well, that's it as it stands now. I rebuilt the top end, whacked a new piston, set of rings, inlet and exhaust rockers in, flushed out the sump, plus a few other minor things, whacked it back together and it ran. Done 100 miles on it so far, changed the oil and did the tappets, and all seems okay.

I also took off all the stickers, and bought a standard seat unit from eBay. Micron can is horrid and is not staying, so along with the seat unit may be for sale if anyone is interested.

The tail unit it came with was an aftermarket jobbie. IMO made the bike look too heavy, and long. The one that is on there now is an original, with missing side panels (which I personally like) to show the frame.
Makes it look lighter, better.
As for them not being common, engine (bar detachable sump, a sixth cog and the camshaft) is dr350. I used dr parts when rebuilding it.
Will be doing trackdays on it when the better weather is here, choosing this over the sv, as it doesn't matter if I chuck it in the kitty litter.

Jealous of you!
Always fancied one, though wasn't really too impresed when I rode one. Still like the idea and would be fine for a local-use winter bike.
Note that sometimes people refer to the suzuki GS500 as a 'goose' just to be confusing.
Said people are wrong. |

YAY!
Picked up a rear seat unit from eBay for the pricely sum of £2.20.
Looking to get a seat of tyres soon. 090's a good (read
"sticky") choice? Anybody know if they do a 110 for the front?
Have noticed people call Gs500's gooses. Faggots. ____________________ You ain't a has been if you never was |

I used to have one as my first 33bhp legal bike.
Beware, the electrics are made of cheese.
Smoothest gearbox going though.
Last time i took mine out i honestly couldnt feel the gear changes
Will not wheelie for shit though unless you have someone on the back, but as you've said, ridiculously good handling. ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...
