Semi/fully synthetic/mineral/olive/4 stroke/chip grease.
After the greatest sin of being a 2 stroke owner, dont mix the oil! Embarassed
I mixed semi with a full and look what happened, if it works for you stick with it.
Also check the inline 2 stroke oil filter on older bikes, mine was partially blocked.
Am now running in and promise to be more faithful to the beast, ( 240 quid lighter )
Dylan, hows yours going? finnished buffing your head? Very Happy i mean barrel.

OI, less of that. Was 'only' one of the main bearings and the piston rings. Barrels ok, there just waiting for gaskits. Should be back on the road in the nex 2 weeks.
Fingers crossed.
How many miles at what revs for running in new rings and polished barrel?
Thanks
Dyl

That one has been debated before I know. Geezer at the main dealers reckons only 200 miles at low revs. I read on the forum 5000 revs for the first 100miles then + 1000 revs for each 100 miles thereafter, sounds realistic i suppose.
ctyson= i dont suppose it was just the mixing of the oil, i did find crap in the 2 stroke oil filter, didnt help!
I had a semi seizure after i mixed and think the damage was done then. The day it blew I didnt warm the bike for very long......bad combination, no?

the oil does make a differance

make sure you use a injector 2 stroke oil, doesnt matter which make.

i only use the best 2 stroke ( castrol fully sinc ) and seems to run wicked.

i would warm the bike up first before thrashing the hell out off it. ( otherwise dead bike Smile )

all i did was tried a few 2 stroke oils to see which runs better. belive me it can make a differance in performance if the oil is shit.
