Hi,

Without revealing too much... is a Lawyer/Solicitor bound to act in your best interests? Or in the interests of the person paying their bill?

Craig

If they are representing you then they should have your best intrests in mind (regardless of who is paying the bill), if some is paying them to sue you then they are wirking for them and cannot give you advise.

Hope this helps but not entirly sure what you mean by your post.

Whats the situation?

Regardless of who foots the bill, as said, if they are representing you, they should have your best interests in mind.

Don't leave us in suspense! Tell the BCF Population! Wink

(You never know, someone else may have been in a similar situation!)

As of around a year ago, if you go to a lawyer having committed a crime which you haven't reported, they are legally bound to report it to the police. Otherwise they should have the person they are representing in mind.

They act in the best interests of whoever they're representing, which most of the time will be the same person who's paying the bill.

Is this civil or criminal? Any more details you can post (obviously it's not actually about you, just a hypothetical situation Wink )will mean people can give you an accurate answer rather than just generalisations. Thumbs Up

Hi

While they should have your interests in mind in my experiance the only person who really has your best interests at hear is you.
Some are lazy or thick or like most of us in work looking for the easy route which is not necessarly the best for you.
What ever the issue is I would research it yourself, question the solictor, ask about the oprions considered and rejected etc.

regards
Charlotte

Thanks for the replies, I'll bear them in mind. Am also getting advice from other sources, but felt I could get some good, quick replies here (which I did). I was only expecting generalisations to be honest - this is civil at the moment.

I don't really want to say anymore at the moment - whilst I don't think anyone will do any serious research onto me, I don't think posting details onto the public domain is really sensible at this time - but will make a post in due course, once it's all over.

Cheers,

Craig
