England of course, but I always love the way the French play. After the way they hammered the Italians they must be strong to win 6 Nations Thumbs Up

Just watching england thrashing scotland. Dont get me wrong Im english until I die but when they are already beating scotland by about 13 points, why give wilkinson a try that clearly isnt one, if its for anything other than sucking him off on his return debut. What a load of ra-ra bollocks. Thank god super league is starting again. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Dont get me wrong, he is good and a natural kicker, but he is the RFU's version of Beckham, he can do no wrong and the sun shines out of his japs eye Rolling Eyes

We were pants in the 1st half.

I have to say that the England team looks like the strongest one they have had for a few years, it was a well deserved win.

But that try! Rolling Eyes I hope Mr Wilkinson will be ashamed to accept it on his record Very Happy

Wahey, finally an England game I didn't have to cringe all the way through. Very Happy Here's hoping they can go from strength to strength.

Good to see Wilkinson back on form too.

They're a strong team but relying on just a couple of members to make the plays. It could all fall flat pretty easily.

Remove Wilkinson from that match and it would have had a totally different complexion.

And whose idea was it to employ Stevie Wonder as the TV referee? I could understand a match referee miscalling that try due to the speed but the video footage was unequivocal, his hand was the only part of his body not in touch.

You may have a better understanding of the rules than me but my understanding was that the issue was whether or not any part of his body hit the ground (outside touch) before the ball was brought down. That was a much closer thing to call, but I'm pretty sure his knee touched before the ball did.

Bullsht, his right foot was dragging to the point where it bent his ankle, way before the ball went down. Theres no issue, no grey area nothing. Its black and white, no try. Pathetic decison from the linesman, a very camp referee and probably the biggest Wilkinson fan of a video ref ever. Theyre prob round the back with their fingers in each others arses as we speak Thumbs Down

There is the whole corner flag issue too. The corner flag is in touch so if you hit it before grounding the ball, no try.

This is indeed true, however the ball was grounded before he hit the flag. Razz

However it still shouldn't have been a try because as so many have said, his foot touched the ground out of play first Confused

Grump grump grump. Refereeing decisions by in large balance themselves out. England have themselves been on the wrong end of some shockers over the past two 6 nations. Jonny's try shouldn't have been given but it was mighty close.
Lets not forget the disallowed try in the first half.
Today England were better than Scotland. Are England potential grand slam winners?.....I think not. Looking forwad to tomorrow. Thumbs Up

Well, no one actually had hold of the ball at ther time and there was a hand under it.

I actually thought the England side looked quite weak. There was some flashy play, made by just a couple of players but there were also some errors too, they gave away quite a few silly penalties and free kicks. Scotland just failed to capitalise on them.

Scotland on the other hand need to go home and practice lineouts, hard.

Complaining that your own country was awarded an unjust try isnt grumping vin.

However having a distaste at the fact that it was Wilkinson, on his debut etc and it so turned out that way IS grumping. It was a good job they subbed him when they did otherwise he wouldnt have got that heroes ovation, sorry I dont know where that came from I meant he wouldnt have lasted the duration.

Anyway, Superleague on sky tomorrow - a real game of rugby!!

Amazing performance by JW considering that he has out of action for over 2 years, I thought that the hype was warranted. Lets hope that we (The English) can carry todays form through to the World Cup.

It was a fantastic game ,and a fantastic comeback from wilko and robinson alike.

AS far as the "try" goes - if the ref gives a try, its a try. End of.

Something ive picked up from playing a bit myself in my earlier years, and from my brother playing for the last few years - the referee is always right, even when hes wrong.

execpt when its on an international scale and there is irrefutable proof to the contrary.

The linesman was a coward, they all are. The referee can instantly dismiss the responsibility to a third party, he is also a coward and the video ref.... it is my honest opinion that he/she should be relieved of their duties permanently. In this case iot was almost irrelevant as the outcome had been decided, in the event of a winning try something as ridiculous as that decision could have disastrous results. Look at italy and their football crisis right now, imagine if a game was won or lost on the ill informed opinion of a miopic video ref over there. Rolling Eyes

Great game today.
Well done Ireland, hard luck Wales.
But top marks to both for giving us such a good game.
