Negative Ebay Feedback?

Right, i bought some MZ forks on ebay, but i'm really not happy with them. They were described as near mint, which they blatantly arent, and despite being charged £15 postage, they were wrapped in a couple of bin bags.

But the guy has 100% positive feedback, so i thought i'd give him a chance to refund me some of the cash, or at least attempt to explain, before i give him a negative rating, so i've sent him the email below.

Does this seem reasonable?

i wouldnt even leave negative feedback ask for a full refund or contact ebay themselves with what you have just said.

Don't negative feedback him.

Get a full refund and then neutral feedback him or negative feedback if he takes ages giving a refund.

most items that have 'mint' in the descrition are invariably far from it...

give him chance to correct him self, then complain to ebay,
try and get your money back, chances are ebay will leave you to fishsemms fine to me but I'd ad a time scale to it or he'll spin you a reel too and before you know it 60days has passed and you cant do much about it...

Seems perfectly reasonable to me. Well worded, polite and to the point explaining exactly what your problem is.

The only thing missing is what you want him to do about it. Something along the lines of:

"Please contact me to make arrangements for either a partial refund to more accurately reflect the condition of the items or to return the items for which I would expect a full refund."

I'll give him till tomorrow to give me a reasonable response, if he doesnt or i'm not happy with what he offers i'll open a dispute.

And yes, i paid by paypal.

They don't look too bad from the pic, about what i'd expect from a pair of forks that have only cost a tenner. The seller described them as near mint so he has to stand by that description. But c'mon, for that price are you really surprised that they are a bit rough?

Sounds like you had a genuine grievance though with the postage. For £15 i'd expect a lot more than a couple of bin bags.

Sounds like for a tenner you took advantage of his own mistake a bit really. He made the mistake of embellishing the description.

If you'd have paid £50 for 'em (which lots and lots of forks do go for) then I'd understand.

To some extent you have to realise that on ebay you always get what you pay for and the descriptions are often exaggerated. If I bought a pair of forks, I'd rebuild them first anyway, I wouldn't risk them on my bike because of the crap that could be inside them.

I agree that the postage was a little poo, and to be honest does he want to risk a huge 100% positive feedback for the sake of a tenner?

He sounds like a bit of an eejit really, Almost messed up a good reputation for the sake of a cardboard box and a better description.

You are expecting too much for £10 pair of forks although I can understand where you are coming from with the postage problems. Personally though, if you only wanted the upper forks and they where in good condition then complained about the legs to get a refund on a £10 pair of forks, your taking the piss.
