I've just bought one of these and at top whack the needle on the speedo is at the max (50mph 'indicated' but god knows what it actually is!). I popped into my local scooter garage and he mentioned he could easily de-restrict it (cutting something off and welding a plate over it!?!?).
I was wondering, if I got that done and a good exhaust, just how much of a difference would it make to my acceleration / top speed? Also, the same question but with a 70cc kit added?
Oh aye, last question before I start pissing you off ( Laughing ) would all that make a massive difference to fuel consumption as, after all, I am using it for commuting?
Many thanks in advance guys.

Hi,

First off, avoid kits - unless you are willing for things to go bang and the costs associated.

Secondly, derestricting has no adverse effects as it is just making the bike perform as the manufacturer intended.

Get it derestricted Thumbs Up

Thanks mate. I'm too old to be bothered about going as fast as a bammer, if I wanted that I'd get a motorbike! It would just be nice to go a bit faster in traffic, really for safety sake. Do you think de-restriction would make that much of a difference to acceleration & top speed?

Varies from bike to bike. If you have a 50cc then 50mph+ can be expected as a average.

I derestricted my NSR and mpg remained exactly the same.
