Me and a few others are going to Scotland this summer and as yet we haven't thought about campsites, but from previous experiences with camping, more often than not you can just turn up and pitch up.
Obviously at peak times this could be more difficult. ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. Not sure about campsites but on your way up to Scotland I'd take the A68 seriously great and challenging road. ____________________ "he who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man"- Dr. Johnson |

you didnt say what kind of campsite you are after (ones near pubs within walking distance) these all tend to be a bit harder to get into in mid summer .
ive done loads of touring around scotland . i find the farther away the sites are from towns the better they are. if you want to set up have barbies with loadsa beer to follow.
they tend to be much quietier . the weat coast is by far the best
one thing you MUST take with you (avon skin so soft) for the midges not to make ya smell nice dont use any other stuff this is by far the best stuff
will give you a few sites if you let me know what routes you are taking
one i would highly recommend
make your way to the green welly stop (tyndrum) then head up through glencoe (fortwilliam) take the A82 to (invergarry) A82 all the way to (kyle of lochalsh) you can head over to skye from there . once thats over with take the A890 from (auchtertyre) to (achnasheen) A832 to (garve) A835 to (ullapool)
great roads with campsites all over the place .
this can be done in one day no probs but better over two if ya wana look around have some fun |

there is a great big barn style pub 10mins walk away
it is a bit remote nearest shop around 10miles???

this is another great campsite . about 1mile from aviemore . its set in glenmore forest. you can just pick somewhere to pitch up get your bikes right up in between the trees next to the tents . there are a few montain rivers where you can camp next to (great for keeping the beers cool) .
also has the best showers i have come across on any site .
