My dad was involved in an accident on his bike today. On the way home from work, filtering alongside traffic and a car pulled to the left, my Dad assumed he was pulling in then all of a sudden he swung out as if to do a u-turn. My Dad hit the front wing and was sent flying straight over the bonnet and hit the tarmac head first! Shocked

He has a head injury (obviously), dislocated shoulder, possible broken wrist (X-ray today), possible broken finger, cut up arms and fingers.

Damage to the bike was pretty bad, the rim was bent, chain came off the sprocket, forks are bent, see pictures below:

Well i hope he gets better soon..
This just shows the benefit of riding a motorbike as then he would have had some protection to both head and body.....

But WTF is a cyclist doing filtering down the middle of the road..... Stick to the inside on a unpowered bike ......

well, from what I can see here in manch, cycling it down the main roads in to city centre is the dangerousest thing to do, with pshyco psycho psycho polish/romanian bus drivers driving like lunatics.. like who would accelerate towards red lights whilst theyre red and apply mad brakes... anyways hopefully your dad gets well dude, sorry to hear it...

Small Update:

(Don't look if squeamish)

Wrist isn't broken, but his shoulder is never gonna be the same again apparently, and he's going to be in a sling for at least 3 weeks. They couldn't pop the shoulder back in so he's got to wait for it to happen naturally. Shocked

If it's the sort of dislocation where they can't relocate it, he want's to be careful when it goes back by itself. He may find it comes back out every now and again.
