Looking into getting a Jack up kit for the Bandit to make it look a bit better.
But what are the Pros/cons?
The only con I can find is if im short in the leg it could pose as a problem but im not, im 5'11.
So before I buy, are there any other cons anyone can think off?
How easy is it to fit?! States 30 mins - which possibly means 2 hours for me
This is for the Bandit 600

If you want to fit them your self then make sure you have a way of raising the rear end of the bike off the ground, this means without a paddock stand. Ideally you want to be able to hang it from the garage ceiling or something, failing that just lie the bike down. They shouldn't be too hard to fit and it does look quite good if you compliment the raised rear with a small plate.
I've considered doing it to the FZR, sadly I don't think there's a garage roof built that could support the weight of the bike. |

It shouldnt take too much doing at all. You will need some way of lifting the bike without using the swingarm. There are loads of ways to do this. the easiest being using the centre stand (if the bike has one). If not you can use axle stands on the frame, hoist it from a girder in a roof, lift it with an engine hoist, use a swingarm spindle stand, or a hydraulic bike lift. Alternatively you could loosen off the bolts and get a strong mate (or couple of strong mates) to hold it up. Obviously it depends how rusted in the bolts are, but if you get on with it its a 5 minute job, never mind 30. ____________________ Bluespark Automotive - Diesel Tuning for Performance and Economy |

When I changed the rear shock I just put a jack underneath where the centre stand used to be attached. Seemed stable enough to me! I also had my paddock stand where it should have been just not touching the swing arm. Worked fine for meeee ____________________ NC30 + Bandit 6

My back shock was so knackered it looked really low and bounced like a trampoline. ____________________ NC30 + Bandit 6

If you have axle-stands you can pull the pins from the footpegs and turn the pegs over then put the stands under them. Makes it very stable. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

i did this to the thundercat, was a piece of piss.
some swing arms work in different ways, i.e longer dog bones jack it up on mine, but longer dogbones lower it on the bandit..
Put the bike on the paddock stand, get a bottle/trolley jack, and pump it up till it takes the wieght of the rear wheel and paddock.
Stand also acts as a saftey measure if it does go down.
if you have crash bungs, do what i do, get a couple of axel stands and place them under each one ( may need a little bit of wood underneath to get the hight)
remove, and replace the dog bones.
Its a 15 min job, if that. ____________________ Current : 06 Zx10r, 07 Wr450f SM, 74 850 norton commando, 63 bsa b40, 1962 Triton 650, 67 Triumph Tr6r, 1955 Triton 750, 1978 TY250E. |

louise get a abba stand(which no 1 seems to have said about) & you can do all & more on the bike then any paddock stand & then when u change bikes u just change/buy new adaptors
abba stands lift the bike up from the frame area & although they go into the swing arm pivots you just get the other adaptors that attach to the rearsets bolt holes so swingarm can be taken out/off if you wanna do even more ____________________ GSXR750

Been looking again
There are 35, 40 and 50 mm Jacks. What would be best?
Im not a speed freak but tend to stick around 80-90
Im 5'11 - Dont want the bike to look stupidly high that it looks weird.
Also, Main stand plus a jack is all I have |

what are the reasons for wanting the jack-up kit?
it will affect handling and stability.
by steepening the head angle, it will turn in quicker, but with a higher center of gravity, it'll also feel less stable.
A similar turn-in effect can be gained by dropping the forks thru the yokes slightly.

ah.. for tart and pose value, and nothing practical then
a[/quote]
Not always no, what is wrong with customizing your own bike? Doesnt mean i want to pose its just how i want my bike to look and she obviously wants to customize hers slightly. We all own/ride bikes for our own reasons some people speed some people looks of bike or people that just want to be a bit. different |
