ZX6R thingy near the thing with stuff in

Sorry for the vague description Exclamation

On my Kawasaki ZX6R, just clipped below the engine on the left hand side of the bike is black pipe that ends in a small empty bottle, about an inch wide, and two inches tall, is this an overflow of some type? Its normally empty, but i have just noticed its about a quarter full of light brown liquid which has never been there before. Any ideas?

It is the coolant expansion bottle.

It should be filled up to the specified lines with coolant.

When the coolant gets to hot, it's dumped in here from the radiator via a pressure release valve.

When it cools down again, it is sucked back up as the pressure reduces.

cool ok, just to make sure we are talking about the same thing.

There is a larger bottle full of coolant higher up the bike under the seat, this tiny bottle is right at the bottom of the left hand side of the engine, just clipped to the side loosely. very small, and usually empty,

its a drain off from the air box for any water to go into

Also to catch any oil from the crank case breather before it goes all over the tyre.

Is it worth taking it off and cleaning it out every now and again, mine has some crap in it.
