hi. ive got an italian nsr125 but have just learnt that they arent as fast as the uk model Evil or Very Mad
can anybady tell me if theres any way of derestricting them or buying something 4 them to make it as fast as the uk spec?
does anybady know the standard size for nsr125 front and rear sprockets, and the best size to use for overall performance, i dont mind loosing a bit of accel for top end.

Hi

It depends on the age of the bike. Older Italian market 125s were not restricted at all.

All the best

I've got a 91 NSR125F, I couldn't find any of the usual restrictions (including carb etc)... It gets pretty much up to the red line in 6th at around 85 (with a not too steep downhill admittadly) and the sprockets seem to be standard, which would suggest it isn't restricted... though the importer may have done something weird to it.
IF I remember there were a couple of other people that had simialr problems.

Yep, me too G.
Only thing is I cannot redline it in 6th, I reckon You have different sized sprockets than mine ( 13 front, 35 rear ). Can you let me know what you have and maybe your 0-60 time.
Would love to know the why they dont reach such high speeds....anyone

By redline I mean fet it too the redline (pretty mcuh anyway, if I remember) not get it *into* the red line. There may have been favourable wind conditions as well when I've managed 85... I definatley couldn't get it all the time.

Haven't ridden it in a while cos it's bent and I've got
<--- that

If I remember 0-60 was around 8secs... but I never measured it so I can't be sure... the only car I got beaten by was a M3 though!
I think there was 13 teeth on the front, I'll look at the back when I move bikes around next (at the moment there's 7 bikes in a single garage!)

Is it possiable that they have got differant ignition maps for each gear, like the NSR 250. They could soften the top 3 gears.

Pesonally I wouldn't have thought so, on a 91 F model I doubt they'd bother with anything that advanced for the time... something to keep in mind though.
