Ok, my CBR600f took a fair bashing in october. I did the best job i could at repairing it, and to be fair, it doesnt look too bad. however, all the plastics have been damaged, the tank is dented and the front subframe is twisted. the bike is roadworthy, but looks tatty.

now do i spend my hard earned student loan getting plastics and stuff, and getting them sprayed and decals, or do i streetfighter it?

i know a cbr600 isnt a usual base for a streetfighter, but i think it would be intersting to do.

on the other hand i like the looks of the bike as standard, and would like a nice shiney cbr again.

thoughts?

Blow your student loan in one huge chunk.

Save your money and throw away the plastics.

No point fixing it,you'll only do it again. Wink

If you can't find the parts 2nd hand at a reasonable price I would say streetfighter it. Don't even think of buying new parts as Honda charge silly amounts.

Only problems you'll have with streetfightering a CBR600f is the air ducts, how to mount the clock and hiding the wiring loom.

Taking the air ducts off and just having the air box fully open is great and the noise is fantastic.... But I doubt it'll do the engine any good.

Have a look and see what Hornet stuff you can find as I'm pretty sure they have the same forks so you can get a top yoke.

I have done this before and its didn't quite go to plan for me lol.

Here's some pics of my f**k up for you.

I wouldn't fix it. Either wrap damaged fairing up well in gaffer tape and ride it as it is or 'fighter it Cool

You'll cry if you spend a few hundred ££ on a nice respray and bin it again!

Bah, ride it as it is.

You'll ride it slower if it's shiny.

Street fighter it, don't worry if it ain't the "usual" base for a fighter, that ain't what street fighters are about, its about being different not following others, I think it would be a top project for a fighter. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

still in 2 minds about this. but ive decided im going to compleetly strip the bike and upgrade/replace what i can afford. can someone give me some ideas of what i can upgrade and what bits arent worth the money to upgrade. i would like to have the bike as a nice as possible, and as impressive as possible too lol.

upgrades/replacments;
wavey brake disks
brake calipers
braided brake lines
powder coat wheels,
ohlins or wp rear shock
polish frame
replace/paint downpipes
race can
rejetting
strip + rebuild forks-perhaps ohlins springs
adjustable rearsets
new tank
new switchgear
stearing dampener

then after all this i can choose to get new fairings, or streetfight her.

going to strip the engine down too to see about valve clearances and check the clutch etc

also need to fix a few things like the temp controlled fan switch thing.

thoughts?

Yes... you are infact... quite mad.

That list is slightly optimistic ? If im assuming your loan per term is a grand (like mine), wavey discs are 300 a pair, ohlins shocks (darent guess but alot), getting dynojetted cost me 300 quid (for kit, k+n air filter and setting up).

You're list is looking mighty expensive.

If i were you id do what ive just done for my cbr. Splurge on better tyres and better braided hoses. about £250 and you will /really/ notice the difference. And of all the aesthetics you've mentioned only the tank would look obviously fucked. Should be quite easy to get a second hand cbr tank in your colours...

Hi

Streetfighter = zero value wreck most of the time.

Personally I would leave it as it is and keep looking on Ebay for 2nd hand bits to turn up to sort it out.

Paintwork wise, if you are desperate then just get a professional respray.

All the best

Keith
