In this thread, the BSB Ducati manages to do it in 1:26. So I'm guessing that fireblade won't be a million miles away from that.

I refuse to believe that a Civic Type R has managed to stay with a Fireblade through uphill-left coppice, across park straight (where the fireblade is probably touching 150-160), and through Chris Curve. Especially if it was from a standing start. I mean what speed will the Civic be maxing out at through Park Straight, 120?

Its mainly a car freak program. They would all die if OMG, A BIKER WON! Which we all know is the logical answer.

lol, that's pathetic.

Even I was surprised how quick Toseland rode a CBR600RR on one of my recent video posts - and it was one hell of a lot faster than that.

And I don't think we've got an average rider here who's quicker on a road 600 than a 1000...

Posed shot for the trailer I reckon.
The type R is probably quicker through the mountain section and hall bends, Toseland knows this very well and as such there's no way a rider of his experience would take that wide line into the hairpin, he'd be taking a defensive line to block the car through the hairpin and Barn, knowing full well he can extend a reasonable lead through the fast section ahead - It'll be Park corner before the car starts to pull anything back!
Also, he locks up the back wheel - in the dry he's unlikely to be using any back brake at all into the hairpin!

Will wait to see what the programme shows . . . .

A quick check on Google shows that Leon Haslam on his BSB bike lapped Cadwell in 1:27.7, and that Lee Atkins in a Radical SR4 can do it in 1:29.4.

I would assume a Radical SR4 is significantly faster than a Civic, yet it isn't as fast as a BSB bike.

Good to see JT wiped the floor with him.
I still think he was slowing down far too much.

Full thing there. A very 'quirky' lap from JT, he obviously knew the Civic would never out accelerate him - in the few corners it was faster than him, he just bombed it past coming out.

The actual filmed lap is all contrived rubbish! Lots of wheelies, and both fighting for position at corners to try and engineer some excitement. The actual 8sec's is based on times they went out and drove individually, which basically makes this thing a complete waste of time.

The whole episode kept going on about how "exciting and dangerous" it had been, but it just came across as a pile of nonsense. And the arbitary contests of comparing lean and slide and amount of air was just laughable tripe. They're desperately trying out do Top Gear but failing miserably.

Ok so you did not enjoy it. Obviously you have no imagination. Contrived rubbish is not what it was at all. All they were doing was making a highly contested topic fun. And they proved a point that car vs bike equals Bike 99% of the time. I don't see the comparison between top gear and 5th gear at all. 2 completely different shows. Albeit they are car programmes.

If all you can do is voice your narrow minded opinion then surely its not worth posting at all. Rolling Eyes
