Been looking at 600cc sports tourers for a while now, but decided to do some insurance homework and have found out that 1000cc sports tourers are around the same price as the 600's Thumbs Up

Now, knowing that, I've been looking on ebay, biketrader and the likes for bikes again. Question is which would you go for

A - Kawasaki ZZR-1100
B - Yamaha YZF-1000R Thunderace
C - Honda CBR-1000F
D - Something Totally different (If this is the case, what would it be and why)

EDIT - Got upto about £2,500 for the bike itself

Sounds like you wanna lardy tourer

VFR750 FTW , or a 1999-2001 non VTEC VFR800 (try get one with stainless down pipes these babies cost a fortune to fix the OEM mild steel pipes)

you can get a decent 750 for £1750, a good 750 for £2000, and a minter 750 for £2500,

the 800 £2000 for an ok one (I saw a low mileage black one recently 17K on clock 12Mt+t no scuffs) , and £2500 for a v good condtion one and £3000 for a minter.

A - Kawasaki ZZR-1100 Good choice

B - Yamaha YZF-1000R Thunderace - Horribly complex 20 valve engine that requires tons of maintenance over 40K

C - Honda CBR-1000F dunno

erm VFR750/800 (esp the VTEC) also have horribly complex engines , but are cam geared (cept the VTEC) so require less internal engine work, I sort of loathe V config engines , just working on the NTV V2 was hard a V4 is harder, but you get the bonza bonus of a ton of torque.

I voted for something else.

For that money you'd pick up a good nick Blackbird. It's in the same vein as all the bikes mentioned........ only better. Lightning fast, brilliantly finished, flawlessly reliable, comfy, handles well, great with luggage/ pillion. Give one a go. Thumbs Up

I'd get a 600. Probably faster than the lot in anything but a straight line.

Or a VFR750 for some class.

I'd be tempted by a VFR as a tourer, you have the best of both worlds with them.

Lovely looking bikes, pokey, handle well, comfortable for long journeys, and unbreakable.

Defo suggest the VFR800, or maybe a Bandit1200s. Loads of torque and comfy as hell.
