CBR125; Will this disc lock fit?

Hi, i'm a new member here

I'm 18, just got my CBT last wednesday, and bought myself a CBR125R '06 yesterday!

I'm expecting it to be delivered this coming wednesday.

I've already got most of my gear (leathers, gloves, boots, lid), but in preperation for having my own bike, i've bought myself a bike cover and a disc lock. I got the disc lock from Hein Gericke, and they've said if it doesn't fit they'll let me exchange it or get a refund (great staff there ) The disc lock i bought is a Xena XN14. The depth of this is 46mm.

Now i've seen how it fits onto a "floating" brake disc, but the front disc on my CBR looks to be different;

I'm not sure what the width of the disc is, as i've not yet received the bike....

So, can any CBR125 owner out there tell me what the width of the disc is? If the XN14 is too small, i can go get a different one before wednesday... Don't want to leave my new toy without a lock, even if it will be in my backyard... I'm not exactly in a good area...

Was a real bargain, it's almost new, and doesn't look like it's seen much use at all. Doesn't appear to have been dropped either

The lock should be reet, theyre pretty universal i'd imagine

Dunno if there's much point in a disc lock considering how light the bike is, but it should fit fine.

It does double up as an alarm, so thats handy

Also, what would be more secure? Putting it on the front, or back?

I've heard that its not hard to just pick up the front of the CBR Although a squealing 110db should put a quick stop to that, heh.

It's not really practical for me to carry a chain though, as i'm only a weedy little guy

hello mate. you have bought a quality bike there, I had one when I turned 17 three years ago it was ledge. The glove compartment is pretty big so I had my tool kit and a fairly decent chain in there (40mm diameter, and about 80cm long) and it fit in nicely. I've never used a disk lock on there but they are a very good idea, just remember that you have removed it before you set off!

Put it on the front and attach a stretchy cord to the throttle as a reminder. Cos I assure you that one day you *will* ride off without removing it. We've all done it.

THEY DO NOT FIT THE FRONT DISK.

My mate got one and found it wouldn't go onto his front disk. I don't know if it will fit the rear though.

Best bet is to go somewhere and get them to let you take it out the packaging and give it a go around the rear disk.

The guys in my local hein Gericke are great bunch of people, i'm sure they'll be more than happy to exchange it for me

Also it squeals at 110db if you so much and touch it, so no chacne of rididng off with it on

The only reason that I can see for it not to fit is if the pin is too wide to go through a hole in the disk.
Wait until the bike arrives before taking the lock back, I reckon it should fit anyway.

I got an Oxford disc lock for my CBR125, but the diameter of the pin was too big, 10mm IIRC. Had to exchange it for a smaller 5mm lock. Only cost me £15, so might be worth it to offer some security in the meantime.

Btw, just got my insurance sorted over the phone...

£490 with Bennetts, TPO. (Including the extra £48 i paid to cover my leathers... upto £750, with a £50 excess). Not bad considering i've probably spent over £1k on all my gear...

Probably a bit late, but you really shouldn't have done that. That's waaay too much money IMO, and Bennets are not known for being the best of insurers. They usually want like 3 times what rampdale offer me.
edit; It is a new(ish) bike though and you are young, so maybe?

Bennets are good for young riders.

I too have riden off my a lock on, it was a chain lock, and most people who I work with were watching.
