Hi all trying to do a lesson for an interview tomorrow. I need to focus on mean, mode, median and frequency tables. I got it sorted for the mean and median, however stuck on the mode. Now I know that the mode is the most common, so if i had a frequency table the mode would be the one with the highest frequency wouldn't it?

I'm sure you won't forget, but remember to include graphs - at least one Thumbs Up

Good Luck!

If you show the distribution using a graph it makes it easier to understand.

So x axis shows the groups (whatever the variable is), y axis shows the frequency (total number of people).

The biggest column is the mode.

Use a histogram to estimate the median:
I guess you would normally find the medium using a list - the median being the "Middle value" (don't forget to list every repeat answer, for example in a test if 4 people scored 5, you'd list 5 4 times)
If the list has an odd number of entries, the median is the middle entry in the list after sorting the list into increasing order. If the list has an even number of entries, the median is equal to the sum of the two middle (after sorting) numbers divided by two.
The median can be estimated from a histogram by finding the smallest number such that the area under the histogram to the left of that number is 50% - lots of graph paper square counting Wink
