Putting a loud exhaust on a 1.4 is like putting a loud exhaust on a 400cc motorcycle. You can't move it without revving the tits off it, so you're always loud even in town.

At least on a 2l car or a 600/1000cc bike you can ride at idle so as not to annoy the neighbors.

Personally I'd buy a faster car rather than put a loud exhaust on it, but what the hey. Smile

I don't understand why it's on show when it's just a peugeot with seats and an exhaust?

Aren't show cars usually modded up heavily on the outside, looks like a normal quicksilver to me...seats do give it a better sporty look to go with the quicksilver model though

I can see the point in doing engine conversions to have a 'sleeper' , a car which looks nothing but is, but in a car which is already bad boy'd up you expect them to be racing at every set of lights anyway (even if it is making it as quick as its made out to look).

have you modified the swingarms and suspension geometry to take into account the lowered ride height, or are you happy screwing up the handling in prefernce to looks? Wink

I guess I have to agree with McGee to a certain extent.. you don't know better when your 17/18 you think that sort of thing is great.. I know I did. Thankfully most people grow out of it!!

On another point though, this is a Bike Chat Forum so chances are you are going to come into some serious criticism for putting up a car like that, but there ya go, there are enough 17 yr olds on here to appreciate it!

Christ, you've ruined an example of the only 106 I might vaguely have considered buying, and destroyed any residual value that car had. Whether it's been on show or not, that seems about as original and special as a piece of Ikea furniture, there are millions of them.

I'm fully with McGee and some others, Plamer has generally posted about his interests, not hoping for critisiscm, no-one is forced to post. Rolling Eyes
Good luck palmer, 'sit in a mag or something?

I know it's a bike forum, but ppl post about Ebay, their pets and even love lives, and they're not critised too much.

it's a quiksilver, enough said.

Just because it's been to two shows doesnt make it anything special. I had/have a £100 car that I just tidied up and stuck a standard kit on, and thats been to loads of shows and gets LOADS of interest. Doesn't make it a good car though, infact, it's a bit of a shed !

I guess you grow out of the stage you're in now, all show no go, I did it too. I wish now I'd just spent the extra money on insurance and had my GTi from day one, it's a clean and tidy car but it doesn't look, like, 'wow', but man is it fun anihilating saxos and pugs with stupid kits Laughing

A car thats fun to drive is farrr more fun than a car thats all tarted up IMO.

pmsl at the comedy orion too Smile

its had full springs and shocks all round, so handles superb Thumbs Up
new anti roll bar+linkages, did the drive shafts while i was there too.

and it may 'just' be a quiksilver, but its a bloody tidy car. couldnt ask for more at the minute. handles well, goes well, looks good, has 4 seats and a boot.
i personally love it. and when you want it can easily keep you entertained.
as for the thing about value, i paid 1900 for it bog standard, and am getting offers for 2500. so its worth what people are willing to pay.

and as for the comedy orion, it goes like stink Wink
do you see the intercooler?

Palmer, you should have saved the money on mods, selling the 1.4 slowsilver and getting the 1.6 GTi, probably the only 106 i'd have.

Saying that I did own a 1.1 and it was fun to drive, but it packed up on me.

Are you on 106owners.co.uk? Plenty of people with same cars on there (obviously). A lot of 1.4 owners stick a 1.1 gearbox in the car as it has closer ratios apparantly.
