So my friend asked me this the other day when I set her up a FaceBook account, and I honestly couldn't answer.

Can you?

No.

The only thing MySpace is good for is to get laid. Since I've grown up a bit, I don't use it any more Laughing

From what i've seen, you make friends with 100s of people you don't know/will never know, they leave you a comment which consists of a few words & that seems about it. Oh, you share photos & info about yourself.

isn't it supposed to be your own little place on the web where you can express who you are/keep in touch with all your friends and groom victims?

I use facebook to keep in touch with people I KNOW, and see what they are doing, as well as telling them what I'm up to. I don't go in for this 'virtual' friends malarky with people you don't even know.

since I moved down here from Scotland 2 years ago, and many opf my friends are scattered all over the country, if not the world, it's not like I can just see them down my local.

As Feef says - I use it as a free and superior replacement for websites along the lines of Friends Reunited.

I keep in touch with work colleagues on opposite shift patterns to me, and have made contact with old school friends and a lot of my navy crowd too.

I even poke the odd BCF member on there too!

My little brother made me look at his Myspace page once, and it's pure ugliness nearly gave me a fit!

Depends how small your social group is i suppose or what your intentions are.
Like Mobile phone really.....some people moan that phones do too much, i'd prefer it if i could do everything with my mobile phone. lol

Facebook has been good just to find out if old school friends are doing ok, and also is a good laugh between close friends when you go out for a night and post up some funny pictures for example...you can plan nights out, trips, whatever you want through invites.

Myspace has been handy for me getting in touch with promotors and other artists similar to myself, i've had gigs and interest from them which is brilliant.

Facebook is good.

Myspace is like the web design special olympics. Large amounts of the pages on there can actually cause your eyes to start bleeding. Avoid at all costs unless you want to be part of the decline.

This place is like myspace only for dead people.

This place is like myspace, only for sex offenders.

And this is about American class divisions through Facebook and MySpace.

Likewise for bebo.com.

Had a look once, that's 2 minutes of my life I've wasted. It's full of schoolkids stuff. Ok if you are one or you, err, like that sort of thing Rolling Eyes

Just what MJ and Killa said.

To keep in contact with people who you know, or knew for free.

Seen people with 35000 mates on their lists and they are still adding Rolling Eyes quite sad that. I only except people I know and if people don't speak I delete them Twisted Evil

I only have people on there I know, I have a MySpace & a Facebook. Bebo to me is too immature. Too many school kids on there, but I noticed all the modded car sites have models with bebo profile links....

I have both, but rarely use Myspace now. Facebook is where it's at, I've got in touch with loads of old school mates from 9+ years ago.

Without Facebook, I'd probably never have contacted them again.

Yea, would you quit with that whole poking thing please?

It's useful for dropping messages to people, keeping in touch in an informal way (no "Dear friend, how are you?" formalities), sharing photos of groups of friends and of course playing Pirates Very Happy

It's just to get people's attention I suppose - especially if they are online at the same time as you. I just like my PC telling me "You are about to poke Ann/Dragonfly/A Fit Chick"!

Facebook is purely and utterly for timewasting.
And very good at it I am becoming ... LOL. Thumbs Up

My top mate Ray has found an application that allows you to put a toilet on your profile*. Needs a bit of improvement, some tweaking on things you can do with it ... but how bad can that be?

Laughing Laughing Laughing

*about the level of humour I would expect from Ray, of course, but thats why I lurve him so much, LOL

I know, I know, LOL

Annoyingly ... I lost that nice editing job from New York, as well as several days of knockage recently ... so I am frittering away time, twatting about finding more things to do, and not trying terribly hard

My excuse is that I'm supposed to be moving into my new flat. But actually, I've not got round to doing that either yet Rolling Eyes

ACTUALLY I've just remembered I've got some nasty medical editing to do somewhere in my emails. Really should do that, cos I am nagging him to send me a ticket to a medical conference in Umbria in October. If I don't do his work, he won't bring me to his conference (!!) Shocked

*scurries off*

I like MySpace because it gives me a chance to piss around with HTML and CSS without doing much damage to anything else. In fact I have just finished my first custom CSS layout, yay! Very Happy

It most likely looks gash on non-widescreen monitors and it's plain and dark but blah, for my first attempt I'm pretty happy with it.

So yeah, that's what I use MySpace for. I'm not on any others 'cos I cba.

Anyway, I'm going to have a cheese sandwich now. Thumbs Up

Man I hate myspace, I hate all the gash designs.

Facebook is good. I like the fact I keep in contact with real friends.

Don't understand the ethos of boasting about having 300+ friends, most of whom you don't actually know.

Yeah a lot of profiles can be overfilled and take agees to load, which is a pain, mines simple and loads in seconds - if only the minimalism caught on.
