Hi BCF i have just got a CBR125 and i insured it on tuesday. They have not yet sent me a cover note ot details so now i cant even get any road tax. All they have sent me is a amber debit letter showing what i have to pay each month lol figues they would be after the money first. Anyway is this enough to get some tax from the postoffice and i also have an insurance quote number?

lol u are correct it is bennetts., and most people get their cover note next day. When they gave me a quote number i thought that meant they would not need to send one and the post office could ring them to see that you are insured. Mad

You have a 14 day cooling off period.

Call Bennetts, ask them to send you your covernote, suggest you will use the cooling off period to go with an insurance brokers that can supply the correct paperwork when required.

Bennetts are good for building up No claims on TPO policies when you first start riding, but they are pretty useless otherwise.

That's crap that is. Without MOT, your insurance MAY be void, but tax has nothing to do with anything. The police don't even enforce it - it's the DVLA.

Want to bet the Police don't enforce Road Tax?

I'll buy you breakfast... Smile

You seem to be spot on about the points.

Looks like they just crush your motor instead.. Sick

It's the DVLA that actually do the enforcing.

However, the police can report you to the DVLA for it, and they can hold your vehicle until the DVLA come and take it away, although having said that I've been done for no tax before and they didn't do anything. I bought a tax disc a few weeks later, backdated it, and I've never heard anything since.

The point (pun unintentional) that I'm trying to make is that lack of tax is not a matter for the police, and it also has nothing to do with your insurance, therefore it is an unendorsable offence.

just saying what i was told.something about a vehicle with no tax is classed as a unroadworthy vehicle and can be taken and crushed however unlikely that is.
im sure your probably right,i was just saying what i was told.
ill find out because if my insurance doesnt come through tomorrow then im gonna get the bike out anyway and take my chances.

Such a nice looking bike to end up crushed.

You've got your policy details and your V5c, whats stopping you doing it online?

It can take a while for the insurance to show up on the DVLA's database.
