Erm? Has no one seen Suzuki_Hayabusa_at_320KmH.wmv then? Sorry, I couldn't post it but it's all over the place if you search in Google.

320kmh=200mph ish. I think most would agree that those speeds are easily attainable by a 'busa, its just that 230mph requires a lot more work.
(Didn't a turbo 'busa with NOS manage 218mph at Elvington the last time we were there?)

Okay, it actually managed 221.3mph at Elvington. Cool

Hi

But Stew, that is an accurate speed. The speedo was probably showing over 250mph at that moment!

All the best

And you think it isn't? It is a Suzuki Speedo and at that speed probably well over 10% high. This one at Bruntingthorpe managed 184 I think, but was indicating 205mph (from memory).

wasn't there a busa in the "200mph club" issue of performance bikes a while ago? i'll have to dig that out and have a look. I went to a pb run what you brung for my birthday in august 2002 but the wind wasnt good enough for a 200mph run. (except the v&m nos bike i think)

Yes its true ive ridden two versions of hayabusa's that can do 230mph!
the first was a dragbike so it cant really be counted but the other is a road bike! Twisted Evil
it has twin turbo's,nos, electronic gearing and i dont think i have been so scared in all of my life when i rode it! (well not on a public road of course)

Sorry, but I dont believe you. firstly to get a teminal velocity of more than 230mph, you will have to do it over more than a quarter of a mile. I would like to know what time you think you acheived over the quarter mile, as most busa's in superstreet trim(which is where they are used most) acheive around 9.5 seconds at a terminal velocity of between 150-160mph. So you see, to acheive a top speed of 230mph over a quarter of a mile you would have to have achieved a time of....? well I know, but you tell me

They did an article in one of my monthly bike magazines on a Hayabusa Turbo a few months ago. It arguably reaches 240mph. I'm guessing this is what you're on about. I don't know too much about it, I'd have to find the article... but a road bike doing 230 is near ridiculous.

OK I'm normally a guy who presents well reasoned discussion to people who put forward claims without knowing the facts, we all know that the speedo reading is not the true reading, i.e we all know when the standard hayabusa is at top whack, dont quote me, but I think the unrestricted do just over 190mph in the right conditions, giving a speedo reading of 215-220mph. If there is a person who says that they took a twin turbo, nitrous oxide road hayabusa to a radar measured speed of 230mph then I am asking them to prove it, & I am putting up a large wedge of cash in the sum of £1000 to that person. I do this knowing what can, & has been acheived.

I haven't actually heard of the existence of a twin turbo busa anywhere in the world and i would like to know who would let a bloke who rides an old cbr1000 which he claims to have 130bhp have a go on a bike which the engine alone would have cost about 30k.

Hi

What would be the point of a twin turbo setup when you are looking for maximun speed? Surely the whole point of running 2 smaller turbos is that they spin up more quickly to reduce lag. Hardly worth the extra weight when you are going for top speeds.

All the best

Keith

i agree the twin turbo didnt make much difference so it was taken off!
i would also love to take your £1000 away from you but a:i cant be arsed to do it cause hello its not my bike! and b:the fastbike team threw it down the road and blew it up a few months back so its looking a bit sorry for itself at the moment!
oh and apparantly it cost £16000 to build! - it was in the fastbike mag a few months ago i think?
