I had a low-speed off last night, I was turning right into the alleyway outside my house, I'm not quite sure what happened but I think it was because I was (stupidly) in first gear and I must have twisted the throttle or something because next thing I knew I was on my arse and my C90 was on its side.

Must have been going at about 5mph, the bike just went down and didn't slide or anything like that and I got away with a minor bruise to my leg.

No major damage to the bike (seemingly) - dickensed up the front brake switch so the light was stuck on, but twiddling the wires slightly fixed that. However, I'm not sure if I'm being paranoid or something, but the steering now seems slightly off center. As in, the front wheel points ahead when the bars are turned very slightly to the right.

The bike still handles and rides fine. Is it conceivable that I've bent the forks slightly or something bad like that? (I find it hard to believe that a bike weighing about as much as my arse going on its side at 5mph could do that, but I digress.) If I have, is it OK to keep riding it as it is? MOT failure? It's only very slight, whatever the problem. And it may have always been that way, perhaps I'm just paranoid.

Help! Very Happy

i dount you have bent the bars/ forks from a 5mph off.

Its most probably mental - i had it once, its just about getting confidence back in the bike.

Glad your ok and havnt done anything too bad to yourself!

Cheers. Thought as much - there's not a scratch to the (plastic) fairings or my nice shiny exhaust, so I fail to see how it could have done much.

Lesson learned? Don't go round corners in first gear on wet, slightly dubious surfaces!

If they are bent, go along no hands and if it pulls to a side then that would show if they where slightly twisted.

This won't work on most roads as the majority are crowned to allow rain water to run off. Obviously this doesn't apply to more rural roads but you just need to find a very flat one.

You'll find that you've twisted the yokes - happens to most bikes when they fallover just with the way they hit the ground. Loosen off your fork clamps, re-align steering, re-tighten. 5 minute job Thumbs Up

You've probably bent the mudguard so it looks off-kilter. You'll NEVER get it perfectly straight again, it's the way of these things.

There's no yokes as such on a C90 folks, they have leading link suspension and pressed-steel 'forks'.

Scarily, if you stand facing the front of the bike, grip the wheel between your knees and twist the handlebars, you'll be able to move their position in relation to the wheel.

The other way is to losen any pertinant looking bolts then dunt the front wheel square against a wall a few times (by standing astride the bike and pushing on the handlebars). This'll square it up, then tighten the bolts again.

This is what I was going to suggest - you can do this with most bikes to improve things enough to help make it rideable after a slight/moderate slide.

It's the front of my project scooter, that never got round to being road registered.

Which reminds me. Changed.

Mate, when you have a proper off, you'll know about it.

And you certainly won't need to ask your BCF bruders how bad it is!

It's a C90 and therefore slightly more indestructable than a CG125...

There was something I was watching where they were trying to kill one, ran a chiefton tank over it in the end...

I was going to suggest loosening the yokes assuming that they were the same as a regular bike, but the Wee Free Man has pointed out the proper way.

I remember that programme Kal, wasnt it something like the top 20 of bikes or something ? They replaced the engine oil with used chip fat, overloaded it, chucked it off a building and it still started and tried to move but the wheels looked like a snake belt if memory serves Smile I think it was voted the No.1 as it has the most sales worldwide. Wasn't Charlie Boorman the rider ?

C90's are quite prone to this. As suggested earlier a firm grip of the front wheel between your legs and a bit of a sharp twist the right way should fix it. And the front mudguards also often seem off line. With mine, although the wheel itself is straight and correct, the mudguard is more over to one side and from the driving position it gives the appearance of being wonky.
