Yes the new EU directive.

Makes it much harder to progress and the CBT changes next year.

Not sure when the whole new licensing thing comes in, but I've heard that could be next year too.

Well in a way it does as you have to complete this before you can go for the DAS although I would of thought this would be built into the DAS also word of warning age limits will apply soon to DAS too.all the more reason to do any bike test sooner rather than later

It's not an EU directive.. this change was part of the UK government's revision anyway.

The controversial EU directive involved a restricted licence and staged capacity licences for everyone irrespective of age.

But yes, ther are new laws coming in as of september/october next year involving manoueverabilkity and emergency avoidance at 50mph, which must be done on private land.

This is the first actual article ive read about the new bike test and I am shocked and disgusted about how hard and pointless the new section is, mainly the controlled swerve why does it have to be 31 mph the emergency brake doesnt have to be?. And the reverse round a corner it isnt a car most bikers dont need to do that( besides the fact that when you enter the test centre you have to park in a bay that requires you to reverse out of it :S).

they shouldn't increase the difficulty of the driving test but instead the difficulty of the CBT as i recently witnessed some idiot on a 125 ped decide to turn around and talk to his mate sending himself into a lamppost, A LAMPPOST!!!!. Apart from being quite funny it showed the true difficulty of the CBT.

Ok my rant is over now.

The emergency aviodance must be done once at 30kph (18mph) and once at 50kph (31mph).

There will also be a controlled stop from 50kph, swerve to the left and swerve to the right, figure of eight, u-turns and emergency stops thrown in for good measure too.

And before someone points out that I've used kph, that's how it has been presesnted! Rolling Eyes Shocked

Yes, they are still part of the CBT, but people taking their tests for A and A2 after next October will have to do them too.

As if 33bhp isnt a lame enough idea, they go and do something like this.

This isnt about safety at all its just about getting less people into bikes. The test shouldnt be based on anything off road at all. You are passing a test to ride on public roads so the test should be done on public roads. The swerve thing is just stupid. Yes of couse when a car next pulls out on me I am going to be going exactly 31mph, be ready for them to pull out and, of course brake as hard as possible after the event so I can get bum raped.

Fucking cockends who come up with this crap. They should make the car test harder so there isnt so many clueless cage drivers on the roads.

This is going to put so many people off riding,my first(and only, touch wood) crash was caused by doing a brake a swerve and that was only at 15mph when i went round a junction and a car was on my side of the road round it.front wheel locks, down i go on a 125. Lots of people will do it in practice, fall off and be put off.I did my CBT and i feel it taught me everything,so when i did my full test it was just the a case of repeating it.dont see why it has to be harder. As far as I know, they are planning to make the car test harder in the 24 months after they make the bike test more difficult. They'll be introducing the same manouvers for the cars as well as the usual turn in the road and parking manouvers.

In my opinion, they should do it the other way round, but that's governments for you. Rolling Eyes
