I was on my de-restricted NSR on sunday towards devils bridge when a 2 stroke RD125 air cooled twin cafe racer pulled up beside and acknolged me for a race.
Now i thought what a prat wanting to put a 1975 bike upto a 2001 NSR.
But somehow this bike was tourchering me. Im an v good rider but it semed to out accelerate me out of every corner & really pulled away on the straights, only manged to keep a few feet behind due to the handlng of the NSR. I was pulling bout 98mph but just cuold not get past.
Is there somthing wrong with my bike or do these RDs put more power out?. Whats the top speed of them and what sort of top speed should i have. ANY info as i feel a right wanker get tourched by a 25 yearold bike.

One of mates used to have a RD... didn't think it was that fast. Could it have been the 200? or just had a bored engine.
Ithought the RD made less than 20hp, which should definatley be less than the NSR.

Hi

Yep, the RD125DX was around 16~18hp as standard, and the 200 not much more. The DX (from memory) was the later one fitted with alloy wheels.

Suspect it had been tuned up quite a bit

All the best

Keith
