Ok, lets say, that you were just given a choice of plane tickets to anywhere in the world, and allowed to hire any bike you could....

Where would you go, and what would you hire?

I know some people would love to cross America, on a Harley/Cruiser

Do you go for the nice roads, or the good sights?

Personally, I think Hawaii would be nice, some good roads, some nice weather, nice scenery. And for the twisties I'd definately want a sporty bike, possibly an R6.

Somewhere they ride on the left so that I don't have to worry about going head on into an oncoming truck by riding on the 'wrong' side of the road.

Somewhere with nice weather, not too hot as to get sun burn as having to ride in flip flops and shorts but not too cold that I have to wear the full clobber all the time.

Somewhere with some nice views but not so nice that I am looking over my shoulder at the 10000 feet shear drop only inches from my front wheel.

Somewhere where there are some places to go, people to meet.

Somewhere with people and not just in the middle of some bad lands or no mobile phone coverage.

Somewhere with an array of diverse culinary dishes. Whats the point of going to somewhere and not going native and eating what the locals do, maybe a nice curry. Thinking

Somewhere where the police are a little lax or maybe just a lax speeding limit.

Somewhere where the pound goes a long way and the petrol is cheap as chips.

I'm thinking far east or Pacific ring of some description?

I'd go to Australia and tour around the country on a GTR1400 or an FJ1200.
I went around Australia with my family for 6 weeks a few years back, and some places are truly amazing. Most of our travelling was done via plane and car though, so a motorbike would be a lot more involving and fun.

Well since I'm going to Oz for good in three months, I can tick that box in advance Cool so looking forward to the mountain roads around Brisbane (and Newcastle if I get a chance to go and hassle Den Monkey!).

So therefore I would go for the tip of Chile, and a KTM enduro bike (apologies fo not knowing the exact make!), and do the Pan American Highway. THAT would be good.

Well I want to go to Japan but thats more to see the cities and mountains.
I think if it was just to ride I'd go to Canada (In the summer) on a adventure type bike.
Have done half of the states and Australia in a car and most of New Zealand on a ped, I'd like to do all of those counties again but not for a few more years.

id head home and do new zealand on the bike again,
fuck all traffic (4 million in the whole country) only 1 million in the sth island (which is the size of mainland brittian) the roads are wicked with long straight on the east coast and perfect twisties on the west,
no confusion on what side of the road you should be riding on (same as here) plus nz is absolutely fucken beautiful. i would say the only other country that could compare to nz would be norway, except they dont have the range of beuty that nz has,

ok im biased, but, im yet to find a better country in all my worldly travels Very Happy
oh and we speak English as well Very Happy

if money was no object (but i plan to do it someday anyway)
I'd like to fly across to the Canadian rockies for a bike tour - 3 weeks or something. i've done it on a bus for two weeks, next to really experience it. speeding across the mountains, through the valleys and passed the glaciers. of course i'd do it in summer sometime so it wasn't too cold.
and as for the bike...mine. i'd love to send my bike over on a plane with me and do it on my own bike. just to complete the experience Smile

Now that you mention it....Thinking

I would think circumnavigating around the outer costal roads of Great Britain would be an achievement.

Not sure on what bike though?

I'd go to the Hawaiian island of Oahu and I would ride a Buell XB12R, or failing that a fireblade.

And I'd probably grow a Moustache and hire a Ferrari 308 GTS for a couple of days too... Cool

Alternatively I'd go to Miami and hire a Black Ferrari Daytona Spyder and wear a white linen suit... Cool

Definately Japan for me, with a decked out big sports tourer to make the most of the variety of roads, something like a sprint st would do the job perfect Thumbs Up

about 30mph in town and roughly 60mph on the main roads, they use kph (50+100 I think)
The police are cool some of the most laid back I've ever come across, like most of the people over there really Thumbs Up

I'd hit the Alps and Tuscany/Umbria big time. On my Monster, swapping the bike rental for nice hotels.

Oh, hang on, I will be doing that in September. Cool

New Zealand - South Island, something relaxed with a good view: BMW R1200GS/KTM 990 Adventure/or my very own Suzuki DL1000 V-Strom, and if the roads were really cack a Yamaha XT660R.

I'm going back to my grass roots. Probably fly to Bangkok, get some 400-250 trail sort of bike, something low maintenance, and just ride it down the thai coast - gulf of thailand, into malaysia, right through kuala lumpur, johor baharu, into singapore, shop the bike to jakarta, ride from jakarta, all along java, stop off at my folks in Yogyakarta - know loads of bloody decent volcanic roads there and i think the traillie will kick arse on it - something like deal's gap sort of undulations and switchbacks with 200 ft drops either side. Then straight to bali - partay partay and partay, sell bike or throw it into the indian ocean that point and fly back to the UK. Doing it with a few mates will be shits and giggles too, plust you'd have the advantage of a fella that looks the same as everybody else in the area so there's less of a chance of a butt rape.
