Trial tire on the back

I need a new rear tire for my rear off road wheel (have two sets of xr650r wheels) currently have a IRC TR8,s on the back but have noticed alot of other greenlaners with a rear trial tire on the back, is there any advantage to this?

ive noticed road riding KILLS my knobbly rear.

From what I've seen it does generally mean you slide around a more, however they handle the road a lot better in road holding and longevity.

the rear enduro on my kmx is SO soft that it wont do smoky burnouts, it just leave a splotch of warm rubber on the road

lasted 3k miles on a 10 mile (no bends) commute. now looks like a car tyre
