I went to the docs today cos I have a long, ongoing back problem.
About 6months ago I pulled a muscle in my back playing on a Wii (Happy Gilmore golf swings style).
It was REALLY sore for about 3/4 weex then settled down. Every so often it would get tight and a bit achy but i put that down to old age
Over the past month it has gotten really bad, really sore and it kills while im out on the bike.
So yeppers, went the dox and he gave me a prescription for anti-inflammatory meds. I explained that this is an on-going problem and that the meds would only temporarily relieve the pain and I need a more permanent solution.
He looked at me with a "whats going on here look" slapped all over his chevy chase.
I helped him along and had a near enuff argument with him just to get referred for physio. The guy was not helpful in the slightest. Even though i explained to him that it really hurts while riding and i cant take the pain any longer.
Has anyone got any cheap alternatives that will get this sorted quickly?
Lets see how long it will take for me to get a physio appointment.

Spend the cash on a private osteopath
I've got a lower back strain cause by a low disc wearing unevenly - and every now and again it locks me up.
Costs me £30 a visit. She knocks living hell out of me and a day or so later I'm right as rain.

You need to look at ways you can help yourself with back pain. The doctor you saw was probably fed up of people with back injuries - and yes, they do mostly just prescribe pain killers or anti-inflammatories.
Start thinking about how you are sitting, think about how you use your back picking up items etc. Are you exercising your back to help yourself?
There are plenty of articles online about exercises you can do (and you would probably just be shown these by a physio) - have a go, see if any work. ____________________ Avast! Pirates ahoy!
