Hi i am having horn problems, my horn works but produces a really dull quiet sound. I have just replaced the horn with a new one and it still does it. I am charging the battery becuase thats what i thought was the problem. If it isn't the battery does anyone have any other ideas?

There's an article about horn replacement in one of the major bike mags this month - t.w.o, ride or bike i think. Might be worth a look if you can spare a couple of quid.

No it's a 12v bike using a 12v horn. I'll check the wiring on it.

if the batterys ok i would trace the wiring from the horn back upto horn switch, check wiring for green n shitty connectors, then check the horn switch itself, i seen a few bikes that have had rain get into switch and cause the contacts to furr up.. just another line of thought. Smile

try getting a multimeter on it before you check all the wiring for dodgy bits

It's really annoying me now. I've tested the battery and it's running at about 12.12v. When i test the connecters to the horn it's running at 6.66v. I cleaned the battery switch and it took it up to 8v but it's still making the very weird sound.

Run through the wires as mentioned. If you can't see anything, try re-wiring it.

Does it make the correct sound when you wire it directly onto the battery?
If so, you could be losing something in the 'button', try opening it up and giving it a quick clean.

try to eliminate various parts. ie, try jumping the horn straight to the battery with some short wire, this will eliminate the wiring, buttons etc...

I just checked the ground for him, it's still there. I only seem to have problems with it on a Friday and Saturday night! Wink
