eBay withholds the full registration when you put it in to stop Bilkers/cloners from copying your plates.

If he wants to do a HPI check then he can do it directly on eBay without asking you for the reg. ( quite cheap too)

If they wouldn't give me the reg I wouldn't bother even going to look at it to be honest, do you cover your plates up when people come to see it?

I get cheaper HPI's off of checkabike and I know they're actually good, the less money I have to give to the scum that run eBay the better.

It doesn't really matter. I would give him my reg. It's just like when I post pictures up of my bikes I don't blur the regs, if someone wants to clone it, they can. I'm not the criminal so if anything did happen the police would sort it out.
You're selling it anyway so what does it matter.

If im correct the immediate ownis would be on you.
So when they clone your plate and speed, the ticket comes straight to you.
then its up to you to somehow proove youve been cloned, which can be a barstuard unless theyve already caught the clone bike/car

As mentioned; it's not like you cover the plates up when someone comes to see it. They're also there for everyone to see when you're riding it around.

It's perfectly legitimate to want to know the reg number before you buy.

Nasty it is, but if they were to be getting them to clone it, you'll have sold it, so it won't be your problem anyway.

People who clone plates will either write it down when they see a car on the road or take them off internet advert pictures. I very much doubt they'll go to the bother of emailing or phoning you, presumably asking you other general questions just to get your reg number. And if they come and view the bike, I reall am sure they have no interest in stealing your registration.

Just block the plate out in pictures and don't post the reg. Also if you get a strange email like "Wot is reg" then maybe don't reply to that either.

Yeah i'm with phoenix.

If you'd given it and eventually it'd turned up cloned somewhere you might clock 'oh wait i remember this' and then enough trawling through old emails and ebay accounts and fake this and that could one day lead back to the bloke.

Whereas picking it up off one driving around or a dealership one etc... much less risk for him.
