Right ladies and gents, my insurance is up for renewal, any tips for whos the cheapest? I'm 24, been riding on CBT for 2 years, passed my full licence in September 03 and keep my bike in a locked garage overnight. The best website for my car insurance was confused.com, who search through all the insurers and come back with the cheapest quote, is there some such website for bike insurance? Best quote i've had so far is £880 Crying or Very sad

Ring everyone in the back of MCN, takes ages but at least you get a decent quote. Smile

Phone every single company, and we mean every single company, there is.

Once you get some lower quotes, start playing them off against each other.

These websites that claim to find the cheapest quote never do.

I remember when I was phoning all the insurers in the back of MCN/Bike trader rang one of them and it went like this:

Insurer: Sorry but you only rang us 2 minutes ago for the same quote.

Me: No I didn't. Last people I rang was "blah blah".

Insurer: Well insurers register themselves under various names as they'll get more customers that way, your quotes the same regardless of which front of the underwriters you pick.

Basically the underwriters are the same but they register under various names like cheap bike insurance etc.
What you need is a definitive list of insurers (no duplicates). All I've seen on the net so far is incomplete lists of them though.

Hi

That is who I am with for the Bandit and the Divvy. For the Bandit moving to them from Bennetts knocked about 20% off the premium as well as giving me cover to ride bikes I did not own.

All the best

Keith

One thing, don't bother with online quotes as they are pants.

H&R have just quoted me over £3000 to insure a 2001 R6

They can go to hell, I'll stick with CIA if I have to as they seem to have quoted me £1225 or something Smile

God knows what it'll go up to at re newell in May tho!

insurance companys totally baffle me.i past my test last year ,im 35,i went out and bought a 1000 cc gpz tpft+unlimited mileage no alarm no lock just old garage bikes 1986 with footman james cost£52.50 for the years policy. the bikes heavy fast awkard to handle at the best off times .my bike is classic bike insurance but why does that make so much difference .so in 15 years a hyabusa should cost me the same to insure right ???? .

My 4th year premium is due next month on my zx6r, so il start ringing around again soon. Im still insuring my bike FC, but now its 3yrs old i dont know if i should just go for TPFT? I had a quote last year for a new 03 blade, and the best was £987FC which in some ways isnt too bad, but its still more than id ever want to pay again! Strange thing now is that my bike insurance is going to cost me less than my car, which i never thought was likely to happen. oh well!

When it comes to getting insurance I literally go through all the companies listed here.

The better ones are normally the ones who email you back rather than give an instant quote. Once they are all back I simply ring the better quotes and see if they can match/beat other quotes.

Currently with Bike team for my second year, get good cover and couldn't beat my renewal from them.

If you take a policy with them let me know and I'll get a referral bonus. Wink
