Scuttler down! ask bendy
Managed to come off my bike this morning, had to happen some time I suppose.
I was coming down a little country lane and was approaching a junction, I braked as I would on a normal Sunday morning, as I had done for the last half a year or so at this particular junction. The next thing I know i am sliding down the road on my back (/ me hugs back protector) with the bike on top of me, digging into my ankle.
I got up to try and work out what happened, and instantly fell back over on my arse, this particular bit of the road turned out to be sheet ice, lovely. A car went past and stopped when they saw me lying in the road, then carried on when they saw me finally manage to pick myself up and push the bike to the side of the road, fair enough. There was also a police car about 30 metres up the road investigating a dumped car by the looks of it, and I was about 100 metres from the hospital, so if things were worse, it looked like I would have been in good hands!
The only damage to the bike that I can see is a snapped off mirror, nothing a bit of welding can't fix.
The back of my jacket is grazed and my trousers have a rip down them that the foot peg decided to make, my boots are just scratched where they slid down the road. Had I not been wearing boots my ankle would be in a very bad state!
Damage to myself, just a sore arse, but I guess if I want to get on in the Navy that's something I'm just going to have to get used to. ____________________ Yamaha TDM 850 |

At least your not injured then!
My first crash was something like that except it was in my first week of riding. I wasn't wearing protection though
Lucky it was only low speed. Can't believe the car carried on and left you though, whether you got up or not you could've still been injured. |

Blimey carvell.
Good to hear you're OK.
These Anglian roads are a right pain this time of the year.
Yesterday my rear wheel was sliding about like crazy, bit iffy when you ride past the local plodshop with the rear stepping out at a 45 degree angle . ____________________ Not here... |

Yeah I know what you mean!
I would have taken a longer way to work, down the nicely gritted dual carriageway as I suspected the lanes may be a bit icy (didn't expect sheet ice though), but the dual carriageway was closed for roadworks ____________________ Yamaha TDM 850 |

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Nice one mate, welcome to the club. You are now officially a real biker. Your first off is a real good introduction into biking,it teaches you respect,as you must now realise how much it would hurt if youd been riding like an arse.
Believe me, this will make you a better rider. ____________________ never wipe yer arse wi a broken bottle ! |

Good timing eh, crash in the morning and get an award for it in the afternoon!
No I don't think my lid is damaged, luckily! I don't remember by head hitting the ground and I took a good look at it and all seems fine, which is good because I've already had to shell out on a lid after having the bike drop on one *
*I turned the ignition on one day and the neutral light was on, the lid was on the ground next to the bike, I wasn't sitting on the bike, I pressed the starter button and the bike lurched forward and the foot peg dropped on the lid, denting it somewhat. That was back in my learner days, I now hold the clutch in when starting the bike and make sure I am sitting on it when I start it! ____________________ Yamaha TDM 850 |
