Any problems to look out for on 2000 ZX6R?

As above, bascially, is there any known things to look out for mechanically? If so, how expensive and complicated are they to fix?

Also, who's had/got one, how do they find it? How is the pillion seat? Basically...let me know everyting you wish to share!

If it's the first of the J models. It'll have six piston calipers and you need to reguarly strip and clean them otherwise they seize and warp disks.

Apart from that it's ok. Just the general finish is a bit crap as with many Kawasaki's.

The F model had the same calipers, but different plastics and slightly different engine internals.

Its a J1.

Bloke has had it from new, my dad knows him, and is one of the types to clean it religiously, and is apparently immaculate, will be going to see it tonight or tomorrow.

After all these problems with the Thundercat, this is definately one thing I'll be looking at very carefully!!

The J has the same calipers as the G (6 pot tokicos) but not the F (4pots). The 6 pots can be found on lots of other bikes, the busa and SRAD 750 I believe, so rebuild kits are plentiful and about £50 when I done mine.

Differences between the G and the J to name a few are the swingarm, the cooling fins on the genny cover, a different cam chain tensioner and a mount on the frame for a steering damper.

The F-model is a whole different bike compared to the G or the J.

As said though look for warped disks, check for history of the valve clearances being done every 7K. Other than that just the usual chain and sprockets, tyres, fork seals etc.

Great bikes and at that price I promise you wont regret it.

Right, just been to see it, and had a ride, and love it. Just need to be able to sell my car and bike in the next 2 weeks!

The bloke bought it new in April 2000 from a Romford dealer, has had it serviced and stamped every year. Had a big service last may, costing £800. It's only ever been on the floor once, when a van reversed into it, but all the damage was transferred to the indicator, so basically, its spotless! Just needs a bit of a clean!

back tyre looks a bit bald, and just so you're aware - that number plate size is illegal (you may already know this but not give a crap!)
