Did you know you can lose up to 16% of power from a dirty air filter.
In just 6 months of use, for best performance change plugs every 6 weeks on a four stroke and haft that on a two stroke. Very Happy

Change the plugs every 3 weeks? Rolling Eyes

Can't see many people doing that to be honest. Normally gets changed every few thousand miles when it is serviced for most people.

My Kh100 used to eat plugs, though it wasn't too bad as the plugs only cost £2 and it was a 2 minute job. However, there's no chance in hell you'll catch me changing the nc30's plugs every 6 weeks Laughing. Even if they weren't such a gits to fit, NGK charge £12-odd for each plug Shocked

I'd be interested to find out where that little nugget of chronic generalisation first reared its ugly head.

NGK plugs can last upto 100,000 miles theese days (not on most bikes)

the iridium ones are best, with better mpg, acceleration, and running. -- and they dont cost £12 !

One bike shop charges about £12 per plug for my CBR in the city, the local guy I went to still charged £7.50 ish per plug which is still a hell of a lot.

Having tried iridium/multi spark plugs etc in the past in cars I can safely say I'm not able to tell the difference so wouldn't waste the extra money on them if they where available for my bike (they may be they may not be I have no idea).

I doubt they even make iridium ones for the VFR400 NC30. Confused

NC30's have special very-small plugs, that's why they're expensive.

/me wonders if the better plugs make a difference on Stooz's Triumph Smile

Stooz, I have just bought the tuneboy ignition mapping software for my bike. I can't wait to have a play!

If you haven't seen it before have a look at:

www.tuneboy.com.au

Higer rev limit? tuning without a dyno? better fuelling than a power commander? Yes please!

Yeah, head a LOT about the tuneboy. meant to be one serious piece of kit. edit the ECU directly, rather than just after the facts like a powercommander.
you got a triumph? apparantly theres a lull round 3000 rpm for the emissions, that the tuneboy can iron out.

Yeah Stooz, I have a '99 Daytona 955i in black Wink

/me wonders if he has read my sig Smile

I'm hoping to alter the fuelling so that it runs better with my road legal wolf can. I'm sure I can iron out any fuelling blips caused by emissions and noise regs.

I think that there is meant to be a blip at 3000rpm and one at 5000 rpm. apparently if you go through and change the air fuel ratio to 12.9:1 across the range it helps! Smile

/me wonders if I can steal Stooz's 'hotter' cams from his newer bike Smile
I prefer the grunt of my bike though... Very Happy

Can't afford to go to spain in march, I'm going to Florida!

The newer Daytonas (2001 onwards) make more power because they have different cam timing. However I seem to remember that peak power is further up the rev range and it is at the expense of some midrange. Smile
