I only have 1 key for my RX-S and I took it to a locksmith but they couldn't get a matching key.
Could I make one from scratch or would that be too difficult?

This is the ignition switch that is on it.

Not doubting their service or professionalism, but I think they fobbed you off (get it?) and I'd shop around. It looks like a bog standard ignition key to my untrained eye, it wasn't lunch-time was it?

My dad took it somewhere in Manchester at lunch time. They said they would try and order one in for the week after but it wasn't looking promising. My dad went a week after to get it cut but they couldn't get the key to cut so I'm stuck with one.

It's a pattern lock. The first one I bought from Worlds End Motorcycles and the second I got from my local independant bike mechanic.

<edit>
Ah righty it is a wemoto special, a bit more expensive than I remember too.

<edit - edit>
Sorry not the most helpful post in the world, serves me right for posting while tired. What I meant was if it were still original then you shouldn't have a problem, pattern lock not so much.

That said after I changed the lock on the CG a friend offered to set me up with a vehicle locksmith who would change all the locks to a single key for about £25.

So stuff can be done - all you need is a locksmith with a decent range of blanks for vehicle keys. Yellow pages ftw! Thumbs Up
