So if you knew that the “end in nigh” and “we are all doomed” (peak oil, bird flu, WMD ………….. THE STAND sort of stuff) and you had to have a bike to escape the diseased hordes of cannibalistic chavs which one would it be?

It has to be: Strong, reliable, easy to work on, simple and uncomplicated, some off road capability maybe. Not likely to ever see a living motorbike engineer again so tough and very rugged. Able to carry tent etc.

A simpler way to put it is; what bike will go for ever with little love and care?

Pics would be nice.

C90 with MTX125 front end.

Or any one of the various RT125 derived 125cc 2-stroke singles. Cossack, Regent, Motobeno, MZ, CZ, BSA, Neval, Voskhod, Minsk, etc. etc. etc.

Must admit,

in the likely event of a zombie rampage the motorbike will only be used to get me into the country... its all mountain biking from there on in.

Get to a place i need to climb up to reach, stash the bike and then climb. well known fact zombies lack the co-ordination. Thumbs Up

My XR650R fits the bill, 250 mile range, simple engine, good off/on road, reliable honda build quality, reasonable luggage carrying ability, optional chainsaw/shot gun holder available. Laughing

Simple - 98 R1.
The Zombies would be too shit scared to go anywhere near it, and (if the theory is to be believed) you could spin the earth backwards and turn back time to a pre-zombie rampage era.
Thumbs Up

That's like saying 'Chuck Norris with an extra beard'.

I know it's the end of the world, but there's no reason to be silly.

Isn't the listed oil change and valve-check service interval 600 moles, though? Smile

If I ever manage to find a TE610, I'd say the TE610 I get when I've finished with it Razz.
Or a BMWG650 (good fuel consumption and servicing) or a KTM LC4 based bike (ideally a 690 enduro Smile ).

Where, in a post apocalyptic world, are you going to find 600 highly trained engineer moles to service your bike?

Hardly need 'highly trained' for an oil and tappet service Rolling Eyes. And the moles will mutate from all the radioactive apocalypse stuff; to the point they can at least do basic servicing.
Of course you’d need quite a few – how are they going to undo a sump bolt, never mind locate a replacement fresh copper washer!
