Just got everything sorted to go on a 2 and a half hour treck to Nottinghamshire to check out a VFR. Lovely bike, twin cans, carbon fiber fairing, lovely. Anyway called the seller up at beginning of week, he said come and have a look and said I had been the only interest. Anyway got to wednesday and I rang up again, just to check "yeah it's still here, since your comming to see it on sat I'll give you first refusal". Great don't have to worry about it being sold or anything I thought. Today finalised all with my mate for the drive + other arrangements I'm doing while there and rang the guy back to say I would be there at 2! "Oh... Er... well I just sold it to a young lad"!!! The f***ing t**t! Please pardon my outbursts Twisted Evil So looking around for any more VFRs for sale around that area now. Wish me luck, just hope the other stuff I'm doing tomorrow goes well! Don't you just hate some people! Mad Thumbs Down

People generally advertise bikes to sell them. You don't hold a bike back for one prospective possible buyer, who may or not show.

400s are shit anyway.

I respect that but he said he'd hold it and also I had "first refusal". You don't say that to someone then sell it. I mean he only got the asking price anyway! I could maby understand if the price was higher than that.

Its really quite simply. Say anything to a prospective buyer to make him come. How much do you think he cares about you if he sold it and got the full asking price. You were but a useful bargaining chip for him.

Unless you actually know the person at all, selling a bike is generally whoever can come up with the cash first.

You weren't by any chance going to part ex a cbr600 against it were you Wink

Thats the one, but I had someone interested in buying it as well down there so was hopefully gonna give him the cash instead. Mind I did want it running and he said it wasn't running, well it was struggleing anyway.

that is harsh Thinking , specially since you'd made all the arrangements, you would have thought he might at least have rung you to say he was sorry but he'd had a better offer or something Brick Wall ,

I went to look at the bike today with the intention of buying it there and then, he told me it was reserved until saturday though for someone coming to do a possible P/X with a CBR600. I was there most of the afternoon as they were trying to get it started but not having much luck. He mentioned that you wanted to see it running on saturday but he wasn't sure if it was gonna happen. I said I'd take it there and then even though it wouldn't start so he tried to ring you but it was a works number and he couldn't get in touch.

I'll let you know when the bike is up and running if you want Karma

I'm sure he had my mobile number. Anyway don't matter know, I would have done the same thing anyway. Yeah keep me updated on it's progress, he told me the carbs were sticking. After a good clean out I bet it will fire first time. Good luck with that anyway mate and I'm happy at least it went to a fellow BCF member (even if it wasn't me). Wink
