Can I change the tyres? and if so will it lower the performace?

You can change them by all means.

Lower the performance? I don't see why it would, someone who proper knows will reply in a second though..

Why do you want to change them, are they worn already?

Yes you can change them, but why? From the MCN road test they seemed to say that there were 2 different tyres fitted, one of which was very good and the other not so good. If so then you might well improve the cornering ability with the better tyres (although they might not last so long). Do not go for oversize tyres as that is likely to upset the handling.

It is unlikely it will have any effect on straight line performance. Wider and heavier tyres might marginally slow the bike down, but you are not really likely to notice.
