Nope, its quite hard to do.
Problem being that the bike is italian, it'll probably take a dive in the last minutes of the work and then its fans will claim a moral victory Smile

Hi

It is fairly easy to do, but time consuming. Speak to Peter Knight (0176 141 4106) for the parts and a manual. Allow a gentle afternoons work.

Basically remove the fairing, remove the exhaust. Drain the coolant. Remove the water tank, battery and battery box. Remove the carb. Unbolt the brace that runs between the frame rails and which bolts to the barrel. Undo the 2 bolts holding the power valve in place and pull that out. Undo the allen keys holding the cylinder head cover on and remove that. Undo the 5 nuts holding the head on and remove that. Undo the 4 bolts holdin the barrel on. Carefully lift up the barrel, put some clean rag under the piston to block the crankcases (this way if a ring is broken it doesnt drop into the engine), then remove the barrel.

Replace the piston / rings and put it all together. Check the ring end gap on the new rings first!

All the best

Keith

damn the rs is a bit of a nightmare to get at
some of the things are sooooooo annoyin, like those springs on the exhaust, took about an hour to get those shitty things off then back on!
took us 4 and a half hours start to finish, and it wasnt a fun experience at all! i think i may pay people to do it in future!

Hi

The springs are not too bad, once you have done it a few times. Use a large flat bladed screw driver. Hook one end of the spring into place on the engine, and hook the other end over the end of the screw driver. Lever the screw driver on the frame until you can get the end of it into the tag on the exhaust. Then lever the handle of the screw driver forward, pivoting it on the tag on the exhaust. The spring wil slip off the end of the screw driver, and once you get the technique right will drop into place on the exhaust about 25% of the time.

Oh, the springs harded with age. Buy new springs and the job is far easier.

All the best

Keith
