of the 600 genesis variety. I'm picking up a mint example on sunday for quite a steal price.

My main questions are:

Top REAL speed (although I will do some extensive research into it on private roads myself)

How will the handling compare to my bandit which I just sold.

Anything that I should do/check after getting it?

It's in original colours red white blue with all decals and shizzle, would it be a bad idea to get it resprayed (professionally, father is in the trade)? I'm thinking metallic black, or pearl black, or maybe a similar colour to binge's nc29 but slightly darker.

What are the best tyres/combinations people have found for them?

What size is the link pipe? It's coming with both original can and slip on race (which I will probably cut down a little)?

I may choke it as by law, how much will this cut the power and will it handle it correctly?

It starts on the button even in cold with verylittle/no choke, is this good or bad? It just fires up and the revs stay like that.

Any good for wheelies? I had just about learn how to crack them up on the bandit Sad

Cheers
Pyro

I managed 140mph indicated and I think my GPS said 125mph. This was done on the Autobahn and there was quite a bit of luggage on it.

Never ridden a bandit so I can't compare but I found the handling on mine very good.

I would probably do an oil change. However check for rust on the exhaust as they are prone to this. Braided brakes lines improve the brakes no end.

Up to you but when people change the colours from non standard they tend to think its been dropped.

If it has an 18" rear wheel then its going to be a bit of an arse getting a rear tyre. They're not cheap either I believe Bridgestone are the only ones that supply tires for that bike now.

Don't know.

That's good what's the idle set set to? Mine needed a little bit of choke and once it had sorted its self out it would hover around 1200rpm.

Again I don't know as I never tried however I wheeled my CBR today by mistake wooo it was fun!

Now its time to photo whore lol here's a picture of my 1990 FZR https://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f295/simonbrown16/fzr600.jpg

I hated mine!

They do handle quite well and are reasonably fast for a teenage bike but not blistering by any standards.

An absolute piece of piss to take apart and sort.

Hi

Real top speed when new was a shade over 140mph. Indicated would probably be rather more.

I quite like the handling. Handles better than a Bandit.

Exhausts rot, brake calipers seize, mine eats clutch cables, rear shock linkages seize, 2nd gear goes walk about, etc.

With the respray just remember than unless the current bodywork is trashed you are merely knocking a load off the value of the bike.

Pretty much the only tyre available for them still is the Bridgestone BT014. Few others in the right size but too low a speed rating (ones aimed at the 400s). Early ones had a narrower rear rim and not sure what (if anything) fits them.

Claimed power was ~90hp I think. Actual is about 75 I think.

All the best

Keith
