my 2001 rs125 has 8700km on it and in the last 2 days has begun to sound funny
it sounds deep, as opposed to the usual whine, and it is havin trouble pickin up in the powerband
the throttle response is all different as well, it just feels and sounds wrong
any ideas?? i am about to replace the rings, is it more serious
thanx in advance

Hi

Not sure, but a deep noise could be an air leek on the inlet side somewhere. The airbox does a good job of "silencing" the intake noise. It the rubber pipe from the carb to the aribox has come adrift then the engine noise would seem very deep.

At 8000km I would replace the rings. At least when you do this you can check over everything and look for any other cause of a problem

All the best

Hi

My guess is the pipe you found is the battery vent hose or something like that. Just directs the gas out of the way, so is not connected at one end to anything, and they come off the battery quite easily. Also. occasionally people put the pipe on that comes with a new battery, and leave the old pipe in place

All the best
